Default Auto-dimming mirrors failing intermitently

As the title says, the auto-dimming mirrors are working intermittently, I'm assuming a problem with the sensor in the mirror it's self?

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a know fix?

Thanks!
Andy

R&R mirror. There are no parts available for the mirror's guts, and it's just a single PCB anyway, so there's not much to do unless you are exceptionally talented at tracing circuit board runs.

Detailed view of the internals is here:

So in an aha moment I decided to clean the rear window of my car. With the drought making it illegal to wash your car and the weather being so hit or miss with rain, etc. the car had gotten pretty dirty.

Low and behold with a clean rear window the sensor seems to be working as it should. I'm guessing the scatter from the dirt and grime was enough to through it off. Duh.
