Default extended warranty question for RCF from ISF owners

I just picked up the RCF, I did buy the 100,000 miles 8 years for 3300 dollars. I am usually not a warranty person but I thought, first year car and these can't be cheap to fix. Has there been issues with ISF that would have had anyone reconsider a warranty purchase in hind sight. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

Issues that popped up with our cars were:

Water pumps went bad early (leaked) in 08-09 cars
Only Two transmissions have gone bad in any of the members cars so far...
Some of the Nav Units have taken a dump

Enjoy your RC-F with confidence....warm it up, get oil up to temp and beat on it!!

FYI you posted this in the build forum, the general ISF forum would get you more responses.

Default Warranty

Buying a first year car is always a gamble. Since you did. The warranty was a good idea. Although you didn't need to buy it now. Just before the factory one expires.

Now the RC model has only been out a couple of weeks. And the complaints are already coming in. Take a look at both RC forums. Infotainment problems. And the spoiler not retracting.

Good luck

The F cars are extremely reliable , but you made the right decision. The RCF is a new model in the first year. This is the model most likely to have "teething" problems. They all do. Thats why I stopped buying car in the first or second model year. In fact it safest to go to the third or fourth model year. Its one thing when a test driver or engineer look for issues as opposed to thousands of **** owners

I just bought a discounted Lexus Platinum extended warranty out of state from Toby Rivers last week.
Discounted and no sales tax if you don't live in Louisiana.Quick and easy transaction.

Email him for a quote.
It may be low enough for you to cancel that $3300 warranty.

I just used my warranty to replace engine gaskets that were leaking coolant. 1800$ saved. Ive also used it for the nav, hood struts, and some other things. IMO its worth it. I may get another warranty after this one expires.

I believe you can always add the extended warranty as long as the factory warranty is still in place. Plenty of time to sleep on it and wait to see what sort of issues end up being common to the RCF.

I paid $1300 on my ISF for a 5 year or 100k mile warranty. The 5 years started from the date I purchased the warranty, not the date the car was originally sold new. Its not a Lexus factory warranty, its through Route 66, however they cover repairs at any ASE certified shop, INCLUDING the Lexus Dealer. There's no deductible and they cover OEM parts and Labor, you just have to cover the diagnostic fee ($150, and usually a dealer can waive that if you talk them into it), and fluids. Wear and tear items aren't covered either, obviously tires, brakes, windshield wiper blades, etc.

I've already used them once for my water pump (roughly $900 through my dealer), and it went flawless.
