It doesn't look pretty, but those welds could also be behaving like anti-reversion devices. 2" for a 625cc cylinder isn't exactly small, but there is no doubt cutting off the cat entirely will result in a better outcome. I'd still take a 1.96" tube over the massive expansion the cat's shell leaves behind.

Sorry if I confused you a bit I didn't measure the individual exhaust runners on the ports my battery died on the vernier .

2" is the size of the catalytic converter opening running out to the exhaust but inside of the opening it then further reduces but not by much as you can see in the pick.

Of course the other thing we don't know is if the valve seats have core shift in them which would make all this discussion academic anyway. I did a Supra head with the seats about 0.5mm off center which made a big step between the port and the seat. The bad news is, removing the step will kill flow. The good news for this head was it got bigger valves so the step went away when I opened the throat to accommodate the valves. This is one of the big numbers creating variances between individual factory built engines.

Those don't look to good. The header is still a nicer looking piece
