Default Does your IS-F feel fast all the time??

I've had my IS-F for over a week now and It seems to have a Jekyll and Hyde personality.

One minute it feels soooo fast, like holy crap I'm gonna kill myself in this thing fast...

Then an hour or so later I go for a drive and it feels pretty average...just not much quicker than my old IS350.

Anybody experience anything similar? I wonder if it's me or the car...

I'm tempted to dyno it to see if I got a healthy one.

when the ambient temps get higher the ECU will retard the timing and you lose some power. We know all about that in AZ. Not sure if thats whats up though. Was it hot ?

No not hot at all, we live in Oxnard, CA right by the beach so the temp is pretty much 70 degrees year round. I'm pretty sure it's not the temp that's effecting it.... maybe it's all in my head.

I have to admit I felt mine doing the same thing. Sometimes there's huge acceleration and then other times not as much.

Then again I think I have noticed this with other cars also.

Part of if this phenomena is what drives our speed bug...

I know when I put around town for several days in a row and don't get on it then it seems like it's not as responsive when I do jump on it. Once I drive it hard for awhile it turns back into the beast again. I heard the ECU reacts to how u drive it, drive slow a lot then this will happen. Not sure if that is true or not.

Yeah, it can get a bit retarded at times, which is disappointing... but like you said, it does have its fast moments. Even when pulling onto the freeway at 4K rpm with sports mode and manual, it seems a bit slow. Oh well... Lexus isn't exactly known for its raw power. It can go fast when you need it to though (especially when you need to block a jackass from passing you).

I think this is the case, mine seems to do that sometimes.

Unless I'm in too high of a gear at the low end of the tach (below 3k) mine's stupid-fast all the time.

My favorite thing about this car is the improv-WOT when somebody's awful driving irritates me enough to downshift and mash the gas...I can't get enough of the feel and sound of 2nd gear above 4k with a good amount of throttle...

^^ haha do that with headers & exhaust and it makes it an even better experience. I can only imagine what the other drivers around think lol

Default always sports mode

Hit the sports mode then throttle gets sensitive and you wont feel slow again...

Depends on what you mean by fast. It has never felt "fast" to me. Fast for a bone stock car, sure, but fast? Never. Ride a 8 or 9 second drag bike a few times and your whole perspective on quick and fast changes. I was doing that in 1990. My street bike ran 11.04 at 126 in 1991 at Sacramento Raceway with me on it and would have easily been in the 10's with a lighter rider. So the F has never felt fast.

I've been in a few Supras that felt fast. When you have 1000+ hp on tap, it's hard not to feel fast. But they're not stock by any means.
