Default Wind noise driving me crazy!!

I've had terrible wind noise coming from the back of the passenger's window for quite some time. I've tried to track it down, but I'm not having any luck.

All of the seals look intact, the window is all the way up...the only thing that looks a little off is that the front windshield molding isn't flush with the windshield on the passenger side.

Is this a common issue? Any clever ways to track it down?

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is the weatherstripping or if you have any damages within the strip itself

I had the same thing when I bought my car and Im dealing with it now after having the glass replaced yesterday. I think its the moulding. They replaced my glass with a bad piece and I had them replace with oem. No issues and the seals were tight. Now they replaced the glass with a better piece but I heard some wind noise this morning. Sure enough when I checked the moulding on the drivers side there was a gap. I called them this morning and they are coming back out to either replace the moulding or everything again

also remember that disruption is smooth flow can cause noise elsewhere

Weather seals on these cars can be incredibly annoying when they resonate. My IS350 had a nasty buzz near the driver's ear.

I got some 3M Dry Silicone lubricant, wiped it on all the seals and my noise disappeared. I've done the same thing with my F. Works like black magic.

Door seals and sunroof seals. They are all rubber and will make noise if they are not lubricated.

the noise that would be alleviated with the spray wouldn't be a wind noise issue. Thats more of a contact/ friction issue. Thanks for posting that info on the spray. I will have to check that out.

Identifying the source of a noise isn't simple, and the OEM seals will make a lot of noise if they are not sealing properly.

found the culprit of the whistling. There is a gap in the seal at the top of the glass. The gap is exactly where I hear the noise. In the end all of these issues are really from the seals and install quality. Now the manager for safelite wants to stop by to look at it before they replace it for the third time in 1 month .( fist 2 had waves in the glass. even oem)

Yeup there is an OEM gasket moulding that needs to be pressed up onto the roof lip during the install...

With the NEW gasket, when they place the glass, the glass should be lifted upward to press / sandwich the gasket onto the lip..

Below you can see the TWO side mouldings, that normally need replacing after a 5-7 years since they crack and fall apart at the bottom

Here is a good read on great member who did his own oem glass replacement on his 2IS

Installing a new windshield myself

I'm overdue and will explore the DIY route

Thanks so much for the info joez . I am really frustrated and plan on doing a write up on the glass experience and even oem vs aftermarket. I sent the dude these pics showing the gasket not making contact and creating a gap and also the broken clips on the side moulding . I spoke to the installer and he was talking about trying to take the glass out and put it back in . I said that was unacceptable and that it would need to be redone with new oem glass and moulding

BY the way....to the OP. Sorry to thread jack.
