Default IS-F vs RC-F

From what I can tell, the two cars will share very similar drivetrains, yet the RC-F will be making at least 40hp more bone stock. Any idea what the differences between the motors will be?

Mainly did things to have faster revving, better response, higher redline, not to mention atkinson cycle to decrease its effective displacement and compression ratio for cruising. Some estimates put it at 468 hp based on some leaked info. A big difference in the drivetrain will be the torque vectoring diff. The electronic aids are probably tuned even more aggressively. TVD has normal, slalom, track modes. VDIM has different levels as well.

Of course, everyone really wants to know what’s under the hood. You’ll find the same cast-aluminum block that’s now doing business in the IS-F, but everything else about this DOHC 5.0-liter V-8 engine has been revised. Lightweight titanium valves are again matched with strong, forged connecting rods, but there are new cylinder heads that still incorporate variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams. The polished crankshaft is smaller in diameter to reduce friction, while the pistons reduce friction as well. Naturally the intake manifold and exhaust headers are new, and the exhaust barks with a sharper, louder note. The dynamometer numbers aren’t yet final, but we’re told that this engine spins faster than before to deliver at least 450 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

surprisingly it weighs in at 200 lbs more than the F . I figured they would try to go lighter at at least keep it the same.

Ah, light rotating assembly + valvetrain work; the Honda approach. Still, should provide a little more torque
