Default California "black plates" for your IS-F

I thought this program would be of interest for CA IS-F owners. The CA DMV is accepting pre-orders for legacy California plates (black, blue, yellow). They need a minimum number of pre-orders to start the program. Right now it looks like only the black plates will get enough pre-orders and even then they still need more submissions before Jan 1 2015 to make the cut-off. IMO, a great way to get really unique plates.

definitely a unique way to get plates since those weren't offered since the 50's?

too bad you can't order online. Mail + Checkbook + Stamps = too much work.

They only need ~400 more for the black, in order for the program to kick into effect. It should be able to reach the goal in no time. I'm predicting the large majority of these retro plates to be purchased by car enthusiasts, so it might be a bit harder to get to the 7500, assuming most of the people that were going to order, have already ordered, with the remaining being lazy like 9aristo/not caring.

in this day and age, we should be able to fill out an online form, enter our credit card info, and be done, all in the comfort of my boxers.

my laziness is justified! imagine this:

With the current work involved, I would have to print this pdf file, fill it out, mess up, print another one, fill it out again, shred the other one since my personal info is on it now, go to my banking institution, wait in line while I'm wondering what the hold up is (probably some guy depositing a large sum of money in unrolled pennies), decide whether or not to get a single check printed out or get a money order, go to the post office to buy a stamp, realize I don't have an envelope, ask the post office worker how much their envelopes cost, get angry with the inflated cost, refuse to buy it out of principle, go home, find out the box of envelopes I have is now missing, go to staples, wait in line to buy the envelopes while the old lady in front of me pays a $8 balance with a checkbook, go to my car, drive to the post office, realize I have everything but the DMV form that I left at home, drive home, grab the form, fold the form into 3 parts, insert it into the envelope, affix the stamps, seal the envelope, realize I haven't addressed it, go back to my computer, open the form, get the address, write the address, then tear open the envelope when I see the check/money order on the desk in front of me, cuss real loud, grab another envelope, re-insert the form with the check sandwiched in it, write the address, affixed another stamp, over-think the process before sealing the envelope, drive out the the nearest drop off box, open the receptacle, throw the envelope in, open it again to make sure it fell in, drive home, then wait.

7 months later, no response from DMV, they never received my form.
