Default Corsa exhaust build

So I know there was one thread floating around here about a corsa exhaust system, but I'll try to go a little more in depth with this one. I was lucky enough to find some corsa sport mufflers off a 06 GTO. They aren't perfect, but they will the do job. The reason I chose these mufflers is explained in this video-

The mufflers in my opinion utilize the helmholtz resonance theory, which should give a high pitch tone. Now I heard corsa doesn't make universal mufflers because every car is different and they cannot guarantee that there won't be any drone on universal application. That being said I know that there is a possibility I might get some slight drone. Honestly I just want a car that is quiet when cruising and decently loud at WOT.

So the plan is to have an exhaust shop fabricate a true dual system using an x pipe from the secondary cats and ending at the corsa's. Ideally i would like to have circle tips over the ovals, but ill save that mod for another day. Pics and Updates coming soon.

Rich.

Cool...I'm anxious to see the outcome ...I'm debating myself to have a muffler shop build me a system similar to what you are wanting to do( or just buy a full cat back that eliminating the 2nd cats) ...are you gonna do 2.25 or 2.5 dia exhaust.

I wanted the same and got a custom system put on. It deleted the rear muffler after the second cats, creates a dual system and retains all cats. Won't provide much in way of gains but sounds amazing and no motorway drone. Quiet at a cruise but incredible when booting it. Check out my YouTube channel for clips.

Sounds pretty cool. Different from the other options but still good.

Why the x pipe? Why not just dual system? Is there a benefit of the x pipe?

those bends in the pipes look restrictive but it's a true dual in a sense. Usually people put the x-pipe where the cats are and resonators where your x-pipe is currently at.

Props to you for trying something new. Hopefully you are happy with the sound.

I agree with you about the bends. the car sounds great. In the cab it's quiet, almost stock like. ive yet to hear it outside. I was basically going after sound with a little performance. I have a track Car on the side , so the need for speed isnt really there with this car, but it is an added benefit.
