I am kinda surprised that the RCF is taking so long to be released tot the mags for instrument testing..I am eager to see the numbers and overall road test reviews.
If you take reliability out of the equation - the M3/M4 is going to be very difficult to beat performance wise. Although I love the V8 over 6TT, the M3/M4 torque curve is pretty sweet,

To each his/her own...as for myself, there will never be another M in my life.
Done, over, enough of the German BS on why their cars break so often and require intensive maintenance. There is always a "reason" why something needs to be done, and it is always explained as a natural outcome of owning the car.

All manufacturers have their own quirks. Porsche had to stop sales of the 991 GT3? So what if a couple of people had issues whats to expect from a brand new platform. And BTW the NX200t is running at 17lbs of boost.

You gave me example of the GT3 to make me feel better? Lol no thanks. It's like someone had done a horrible crime and then points fingers that another person did it too. Some issues are tolerable. Blown tranny and differential at 400 miles on two cars and 200 miles on one aren't "some" issues. Those are MAJOR issues. I'm not sure about you but I don't want to know that the car I just spent 80k on has the potential if leaving me stranded within the first few days of ownership. Talk about taking dump on my honeymoon

Wow, I haven't even started to really research the car, outside of basic automotive publications, in which BMW usually does no wrong.... That being said, even the mighty 911's (GT3s) have had issues in this current generation of models.
I'll keep a closer eye on the issues, but I am not even to the point of seriously being on the fence. It would be hard to part with the F, and give up the reliability of I have enjoyed, among all the other great qualities of the car. I would say I would be most serious about the RC-F at this point, with final price and size of the back seats (for car seats when needed) are the two things that could quickly derail my interest.
Thanks for the heads up on the transmission issue.

most likely RCF just looks different to me stands out more and reliability factor for sure.
m4 is a nice car but i wouldnt ever own any bmw if it wasnt under warranty.
looking fwd to seeing an rcf up and personal one of these days hopefully lexus speeds things up here with the release

link away !! I havent heard of the differential issue yet , but between the M5 and M6 being recalled in the first qtr after being released for blown engines and this I think Im sticking with Lexus. If I go German I am going Porsche because of the well known reliability

I have two boys, so I need a four door and with Lexus releasing TT options soon I must wait. Also knock on wood at 94500 miles I have had zero I mean zero problems on my ifs and financially coated less in maintanance and repairs than my scion tc lol.

RCF over the M4 for many of the same reasons I chose the ISF over the M3. But really, I'd buy neither car in its first model year and hold on to my ISF til at least 2016 to see how things shake out.
RCF is on my short list of cars to replace the ISF and the M4 is not, but I'm at least a solid two years out from shopping and I'm still hoping Lexus decides to make another ISF.
