My deductible is $100. I called Safelite and they wanted $100 to repair the rock chip. last week my coworker got a pretty gnarly rock chip on his windshield, so i looked into mine and changed it to the lowest too when i saw the cost of a new windshield. but being so close to the timeframe of when i changed my policy im gunna wait a week before i make a claim ...................... my typical luck

What you should do is add glass coverage to your policy...30 days later (or less) hello free replacement. lol

this may be comparing apples to oranges but i had my moonroof/sunroof glass replaced via insurance when some jackhole smashed it in my work parking lot. ins said they would NOT replace it w/ oem lexus glass. but the autobody shop (one that was recommended and approved by state farm) said they would go ahead and give me an oem replacement. he simply said, "don't worry, i'll get you the oem part." but i think the sunroof glass is such a particular size that no aftermarket company makes one for our cars. thus, ins had no other choice, but to replace w/ oem. it was a $250 deductible. total in damages was like over $1100.

I'm already on my 3rd windshield on my F in 3 years (i commute with my car M-F)... Even before that, I've been doing the same commute for the past 8 years with 3 other cars and not one cracked windshield on those cars. The F just has a "weak" windshield I guess?
