I commented on the other thread about the 427whp DCT tranny M3. I think it's a bit night. Maybe 20whp high. Caymandive ISF made 403whp , still heavier than the new M3/4, can get 11.9 and 118+ on street tires. I think the realistic number on the DCT M should be 400whp. DCT drive train lost is similar to auto, and our auto shifts slower too

Yes I have seen that dyno sheet. What's good about that sheet is the 50whp gain with raising the boost. The baseline number can fluctuate between dyno. How else would you explain a 427whp DCT car that is lighter than an auto ISF with 403whp with street tires is posting identical number through the 1/4 mile. If anything, the M also has more tq at down low too.
Dynosheet from the same dyno can only be very reliable for before and after gain. I'm curious what would an ISF or a e90/92 would dyno on that same dyno

I wasn't able to get back in the 11's due to grip off the line, but I was pleased to have hit a 12.0 ET twice today. I had to play around with the tire pressures and feathering the throttle. Started off at 36psi and worked my way down to 24psi then back up to 29psi where I seemed to have the best luck. If I had grip I'm certain I would have been back in the 11's and with the way the car was running I think I could have hit 11.8x with DR's. I really like the SIKKY/Borla combo on this car.

I hit the drag strip for the first time this year hoping to beat my previous 11.914@120.58 run made 3 years ago and was finally successful! This is not easy!!!
So my best today was 11.879@119.63. A nice tail wind, -892 DA and nailing the shifts perfectly (hitting the limiter on each shift) were the primary contributing factors. Since I ran my 11.914 run, I've also added lighter BC Racing Coilovers, Lighter Borla exhaust and slightly lighter 18" drag wheels utilizing the same 245/40/18 MT Street ET tires.
I had a great 1.827 60' this time, though I was able to hit a 1.826 last year. Trap speed was incredible today! I managed several 121 mph runs with my best of 121.46. I also had the pleasure of running a Camaro ZL1 (mods unknown), the new C7 Vette (mods unknown) as well as an E63 AMG with headers, exhaust and drag radials. One of the close runs between the E63 and I resulted in a 1.870 60' to his 1.874 and a 12.027@121.04 to his 11.850@120.08. Basically each time we ran whoever got off the line soonest won the race. It was that close.

I couldn't agree more on every point you made. The gtr seems to be the most appealing to most of us just based on it's Japanese reliability. However it's no lexus, it's so hard to discount reliability, good resale, and long term durability. If they could only hit it right like the current gtr or mk4 supra they could really shake the whole segment up.
Yeah, Motor Trend clocked the new M3/M4 at 12.1 @ 117/119mph, crazy times and a huge performance boost from the E9X M3.
For the new "Toyota" performance cars coming out within 1-2 years, I honestly doubt any of them will be doing low 12's near 120mph, let alone sub 4 seconds to 60.... RCF definitely won't be providing those time given the weight, non turbo engine, and still the old 8 speed auto trans that debut in 2007....
After the ISF, it's looking like all of us will have look into other brands for the next "upgrade" in performance. Toyota is just too slow in producing performance cars....ISF was 3 years too late, LFA was 6 years too late (Carrera GT, high rev V10), and that's pretty much it.....
If Toyota does come out with an F80 M3/M4 "ISF" competitor, it will be at least 3+ years from now, by which time, the counterparts will be refreshed mid model life. And still waiting for the new 4L turbo8 in the upcoming AMG C63.
As much as I enjoy owning and driving the ISF, like so many others here, next progression will be GTR, used 911 turbo, GT3, upcoming Corvette Z06, heck, even the 600hp+ Dodge Challenger Hellcat......

and btw...those MT's are NOT the same as OEM tires used on normal cars.

Still...prepped track and favorable DA. I'm not trying to discount what cayman did. But I'm not sure his as fast as a stock M3/4. When customers get em and they're running in the mid 11's, you'll see that I'm right.
Regardless...look how far we've come. I remember getting a GS400 and DARING any sedan to step up. Now...V6 Honda accords are just as fast. I also remember dreaming of a Mustang LX 5.0 notchback (because they weighed less). 225hp/240tq. Times have certainly changed.
Now I dream of a 2R Underground LP 560 with 1800 whp. Smh...

let's not forget the 1988 Camaro Iroc-Z with a 5-liter v8 and a whopping 170bhp

The IROC Camero was very Fast
The 1988 IROC Camero was quite the piece, but lets look back to the mid sixties at the 283 cu inch Chevy II. The car could be ordered with the AFB four barrel 283 plus a four speed in any body style. Gross horsepower for the day was a whopping 220.
Admittedly not as hot as the IROC. The cylinder heads were not nearly as good.
Check this out.
Turn up the sound and have fun.
You'll notice everyone is older, very few in the bleachers. A purest sort of thing. The race is a Shootout meaning only SS/K's are allowed.
All motors are either 283 4BBL, 4 speeds (same block, heads and carb as built) or 289 4BBL, 4 speeds (same deal) Have to read the rules if you want more information, but these cars a certainly no joke. The people who put these cars together are VERY smart.
