Default Hooking up

How do you guys get this car to hook up? Especially those with HP mods (NOS, Turbo, etc.) I'm running stock wth ABT dry filter and HPS silicon intake hose with 285s out back and even from a slow roll on start the backend will spin to redline once I put the throttle down. It will also spin in 2nd when the transmission drops down from 4th or 5th. What does it take to get traction?

I'm not complaining, I just don't understand how you can get any more usable HP unless it only counts at high speed.

Thanks!
Andy

Life begins in second gear for the F unless you have drag radials on.

Mine hooks up fine off the line with the tiny 255's. My tires are new though. Its probably the tires getting older. What brand are you running? how old? My car just lack traction on corner exit if I punch it. I want the Michelin PSS but have been eyeing the Yokohama Advan Neova. They are on all of the track cars I see in videos and have seen many sets at track days

If you can hook up with 255's then you are not launching it hard enough lol. I can break traction off the line with my 305's.

^^this. I'm running RE-11's 275/30. due to either the tread pattern, compound or the weight (29lbs) these are the best hooking tires I've ever used besides drag radials. also check to see what psi your running. I was running the recommended 40psi and couldn't hook. after doing some research online I dropped the rears to 32 psi and they hook great. I do get a nice chirp out of the hole in 1st but other than that not too much unless the road surface isn't good. just my opinion on these tires but I have ran hankook V12's, bridgestone S-04's, Pirelli corsa's and conti dws. all of those were 285/30 and these re-11 275/30 hook better.

Are u turning traction control off? I have no problem launching with my stock Michelins at 32psi in the rears as long as traction is on

Depends on your lsd. My 12' hooks in 1st gear where my 08 would blow the tires off the car.

If I'm on a spirited drive I always have everything turned off. this car really wakes up without all the nannies!

toyo r888 hook up just fine for me in all gears and so did the Micky Thompsons. the mt tires had a soft sidewall so it wasn't so stable in the turns.

When I had 255 ps2 and pss, the rear would always swing out towards the passenger side. With my current 285 s-04, it doesn't slide out at all but still doesn't hook and my TCS light always goes off. I've noticed there is always small particulate matter from gravel so I think that's why it doesn't hook. Just like drag racers say, do a small burnout to rub all that off to have a good launch...
