Thumbs up 2013 ISF Vs 2012 E92 Video #2

So I had the chance to race my cousin again a few days back after our last session (he has the same car but painted white now)

This was the last race (when I was stock) ---> https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e92-video.html.

The only difference this time around was I had PPE Headers installed (stock exhaust).

So first few races we had we could only go from 1st to 3rd gear before we ran out of road.

Final race we managed to find a good stretch and managed to get into 4th and 5th gear.

In general we did loads of runs, and every time we manage to go into 4th gear I start pulling away, but anything earlier and I can't pass him.

To my surprise his car still pulls hard from 1st to 3rd and if I'm not paying attention he just keeps pulling.

Anyway he still only has his Eisenmann Race Cat-Back Exhaust installed, and even though it's just a cat-back I'm sure it's giving him a decent amount of added power, his car sounds very nice with that exhaust.

To make this an overall good comparison I will have to install my Joe-Z exhaust and he will install an X-pipe and from there we will see what happens, enjoy the vid:

cool videos. Im glad to see the F can win , but it seem like on the road the M is faster, but once you get to higher speeds the 75lb/ft less torque shows plus we have a higher top speed so we will always win on the highway if we are willing to go for it

Was just saying from a stand still the m3 would pull until 70 odd so a vid would just confirm that.

Why is it that when I see newer videos of the M3 vs F, the M3 prevails from 0-60 to 80? 5 years ago, M3s would always be left behind by the F and then it will catch up. Case in point would be the Top Gear video where the F beat the M3 from a stand still. Was it because something was improved in the M3 midlife ( gearing, DCT) or are the newer F's slower from 0-60 as some have noticed here on the board?

From a standstill, the ISF just doesn't have the gearing to get moving quickly. I think the rear diff on the ISF is 2.9 and M3's are 3.8. Makes sense, as the ISF starts to pull ahead come higher speeds....

I don't have any proof, but I think the DCT trans in the M3 is more efficient than the Aisin 8 speed trans in the ISF.. It is a true dual-clutch vs the Aisin trans really wasn't made for "performance" when introduced in the LS460 in I think 2006. More like it "evolved" into the "performance transmission" 2 years later for the 2008 ISF, which means it really wasn't engineered to be a transmission in a true sports car from the ground up.

And, I to, have noticed that ISF with the Torsen LSD (2010+) vs open diff are slower from a standstill. Maybe the extra traction offered by the Torsen bogs the drivetrain a bit, compared to an open diff where more ideal slip is better for off the line.

All in all, it comes down to the drivers of the e9X M3's vs the ISF. They are pretty much even stock vs stock.
