Does anyone use diluted simple green on the rims? It seems to get the brake dust off with a light scrubbing on a weekly basis.

Guys don't complicate your life. Same soap you use to wash your car should be sufficient to clean your rims. Smh!

Not a chance. The iron from the pads gets hot and melts into the clear coat. That's why you need Iron X or something like it to get the wheels clean.

Would you scrub the paint on the body with a toothbrush? Why would you think it's OK for the paint on the wheels but not OK for the paint on the body? Look at the pics of my wheels after the Iron X. See all the scratches in the clear coat? It's from scrubbing with brushes to try and remove the imbedded pad material.

To each their own, if the car is wash regularly weekly basics wheels should stay pretty much clean. 2-3 weeks without a wash then yea tougher chemicals should be used.

I use sonax every car wash, and ironx about once a month. I am pretty fanatical about keeping my stuff clean and looking good. Ironx is much more powerful and effective on the caked on brake dust in the corners of the wheels.
