I think that's only for aftermarket LSDs. My plan is to swap out a stock LSD from 2010+.

How much did the dealer charged you, if you don't mind sharing.

FWIW, there are as many changes to the steering rack as there are to the ECU. The rack is quite a bit more expensive though. Ideally you'd want the latest rack with the latest ECU.

Are there different part numbers for different model year steering racks?

^^Yes. For a mere $1600+, you can have the latest steering rack too.

Interesting, so three different steering racks over the production run. Good information, I'm all for better driving feel.

It doesn't really matter. If you buy one, you'll get the latest iteration. They've superceded all the old numbers.

Do you know which years had which racks? Assuming that 2011 had the 2nd revision w/ the new ECU. I know there is a newer steering ECU part number now so assuming that is the third revision. Not sure which year they released that one though.

Hello Rossi, sorry for the late reply, I've been really busy for school and race track recently...

The installation was easy, I could have done it myself but I wanted quality install so I went to the Lexus service department. I paid an hour labor for installing, which is $130 in Santa Barbara's Lexus Dealership, and of course, everything worked out well.

I didn't feel much difference for daily driving after the swap, but however, my car's handling feels smoother and lighter in the race track. The swap made my car has a quicker response at turning. It used to feel so heavy but now I feel that the car is more solid. It gives me more opportunity to focus on the cornering and gas pedal instead of Just focusing on "turning" the steering wheel.

It does make a difference. The difference is not big but pretty useful and I'm happy about the result. I strongly recommend this swap!

the next step for me would be getting the LSD

I would think if someone was ready to buy a steering rack to make a car feel newer when their was nothing wrong with the one that came in their car they would trade up to the newest car all the way around... or give a RCF a whirl

Thank you for providing us with feedback.
I think I will go with the 2013/14 unit soon.
I will report when completed.

Seems like from the info Lance provided, you won't get the full benefit of a new steering ECU unless you have a newer steering rack to match up with it.
