Default A few simple aesthetic mods & comparison

The weather in Alberta has been "wintery" as of late, and I was getting the itch to throw on some of the new gear I've accumulated over the winter. I didn't want to run the new Carbon fiber splitter and rear diffuser with so much gravel on the roads, so I decided to do some simple black out mods last night. I didn't get a chance to finish the wiring or install the tips, but will do so tonight.

Also this weekend I got in an argument with a fellow board member who just received an S4play rear diffuser. I thought it looked identical to a Evo or STI rear "vortex" generator, but he claims they are custom molded... I'm stubborn, so I ordered both an Evo10 vortex generator and STI VG to compare. Neither are here yet, but I will be sure to follow up once they arrive. Oh, both were under $50 before shipping.

- Window trim was plastidipped matte black
- iJDM rear smoked LED reflectors
- Gloss blackout of rear exhaust diffusers (were matte before)
- Cleaned, degreased and cooked the diffusers to remove any contaminants
- Applied two coats of PPG high temp metal adhesion promoter
- Applied 4 coats of gloss black acrylic ceramic paint
- Applied two coats of high temp acrylic clear coat
- Baked at 170 degrees for two hours, and immediately submerged in very cold water after removal (pissed off the GF fumigating and freezing out our place)

Can you PM me the exact wiring you did on these reflectors...there is two ways to light them up.

Running lights and running and stop functions.

....Just looking to see what wires you tapped in the tail light wire configuration.

The supplied iJDM instructions are terrible

For my reflectors from ebay there were red, white and black wires.
They're on when the lights are on and get brighter when i press on the brakes.
Red was tapped into white/green wire, white wire tapped into green wire and black tapped into the black/green wire.

Hope this helps.

Default Install Instructions

1. Remove rear bumper
- 2 screws by wheel wells, one on bottom, one on top behind liner
- 2 pop rivets under bumper
- two bolts behind trunk lid and removable inch x inch covers
- pull bumper down and away from wheel well slowly
-unclip parking sensors if equpped

2. Remove plastic trays in trunk on both sides

3. remove 2 liner grommets on each side to pull back carpet, one on trunk liner, and one along the plastic trim on the bottom

4. unplug brake light harness

5. Run wires through rubber grommets/plugs on body

You can use several types of taps. I chose to cut, strip and use a butt end insulated solder connection to avoid issues down the road

6. Splice wires as per the following:
- ISF / Reflector
- Solid green / Solid white (Running lights power)
- White with green line / Solid red ( Brake lights power)
- White with black line / Solid black (ground or negative)

Have you gotten the Evo Vortex / STI VG to compare against the S4Play yet?

I've seen S4play's so called rear diffuser its total crap, its mainly for looks not function. Personally the guy is full of it. Your better off looking or making your own diffuser that actually flows and works with the car.

OP, have you had any problems with blowing fuses with the ijdmtoy LED's? I have run into that problem a few times now.
