So, my batter died and I bought the Duralast Gold - 24-DLG from Autozone to replace the OEM one I had. The plastic casing doesn't fit right and I can't seem to get the battery bracket that sits on top of the battery back on because it seems like the battery itself is too tall.

Anyone else have this issue? I'm thinking it'll be fine to not have the battery bracket on but wanted to confer with the experts .

Sounds like you got the wrong size battery. I would want the tie down on so the battery won't slide around and cause damage to the surrounding area. That's my 2 cents.

The plastic casing isnt needed but make sure that tie down is on. my Die Hard Gold battery wouldnt fit the casing but its tied down with that metal bracket

Group 24 is certainly the correct size for any IS.

I ordered the optima last week. It came in two days. It fits great and works great. Also a lot lighter than the OEM battery. By almost 25lbs I believe. I put it in and it didn't fit. It it comes with a stand that you snap into the bottom of it and it fits like a glove. It also retains the plastic surrounding as well.

Strange my factory battery died about a month ago and the Duralast Gold I bought fits in the plastic case and the bracket fits fine.

Yea. I took off the plastic piece and the bracket fits now. Thanks everyone for your responses.

On previous cars, I usually buy Die Hard. On the F, none of the Die Hards fitted. One was too short for the cover and one was too high for the attachments that the wires mount on. I even tried the DieHard golds. The tie downs will not install properly on any of them.

I was able to find the green top Interstate battery at Firestone.

great deal at $140.00 as most places sell this battery for over $200. Even factory direct from optima its $199.00

As far as what fits (not performance) just what fits in a Lexus IS, a Group 24 battery, that is the correct replacement battery for the Lexus ISF. Brand, model or whatever does not matter! The BCI, Battery Council Internal, sets battery sizes, and they don't vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Other sizes may work, but they will not fit properly.

I found that it was the heights that affected me. Even though Group sizes I tried were all 24, the dimensions were different. Here are the dimensions:

BTW, Height includes the posts.

10.8" would equate to 274mm - I see no battery that is that length.
