Carmax Appraisal
I'm entertaining thoughts of trading my 08 CPO MM with 53k miles on it for a newer 2010 or 11 F. My car still has nearly 2 years of CPO warranty and only mods are genuine black pearl emblems and a Joe Z exhaust. I realize Carmax could prob care less about the value of the exhaust and any other upgrades on a car. They appraised it and report said 2008 IS-F in excellent condition with no issues found and they gave me a $31,000 offer. I did not take the offer in case anybody is wondering.

Carmax is THE WORST. I have purchased three vehicles from them and two of them were involved in some sort of accident that was not on the carfax. One of the vehicles was hit so bad they took the car back a month after me buying it. I dont know what kind of show they're running there, but I will never buy another car from them again.
Take the IS-F to the dealer. They will appreciate it much more and give you more money for it w/o question. And you have more leverage bargaining with that towards one of their other CPO 2011's...
Good luck!

i actually had a great experience w/ carmax. (i purchased my F from a local carmax.) i think i just got really lucky. the guy who i got paired up with was awesome. he was an older gentleman who had a good relationship with the head mechanic of that branch office so, before i even decided if i wanted the car or not, carmax refinished 3 of the wheels that were slightly curbed, changed out the rear brake pads and rotors and fixed up some other cosmetic issues. it took about a week for them to take care of everything and the whole time, they held the car in my name. so, after the fixes, i could then decide if i still wanted the car or not. we also sold my wife's previous is250 to the same carmax for way more than any of the 3 lexus dealers we went to.

Found a 2011 at a Lexus dealer in driving distance from me but it would be a bit of a drive, over the phone they started at $29,500 for my car and I immediately told the guy no, he called back a few hours later and upped it to $33k and I told him no again, they also want $50k for their 2011 and claim they won't budge off that price. Will see what they say tomorrow when they call me

$35,000 to $37,000 on trade if it is in very good to excellent condition.
If you sell it, $40,000 to $41,000.
As a point of general comparison, I bought a daily driver on Saturday to cope with the winters in the Northeast and paid $27,000 for a 2007 RX 350 with 49,000 miles. This includes a 4-year warranty. The car is like new--owned by an older couple for town shopping. The leather does not have one crease.
