(you'll know what I'm talking about if you try to do the install yourself) google was NOT my friend at the time install lol.
Based on the feedback in this thread. It seems that the guys whom upgraded to xxx-41 unit are way more excited about the upgrade then the guy's whom upgrade to xxx-42.

Did you test out the steering assist difference in both normal mode and sport mode? Based on your review on the previous page, it sounds like you were on normal mode. You should notice a lot more feedback coming through the steering wheel when it's on sport mode.

I can also vouch that the Figs LCA bushings also does a great job at further improving the steering feel.

I drive in sport mode only unless I forget to turn it on. Since you have a 350 in sure the change is more significant in your car than older IS-F.

I think it's just a matter of perspective and people being sensitive to different things.

You have people who swear the 08 IS F's suspension was like a wooden roller coaster that could rattle teeth out, while some people say it's perfectly fine and quite comfortable. I made mine stiffer, and I'm fine.

You have people who swear they can feel 5 hp from an intake tube, while others feel like they've lost power. I didn't notice a difference.

And here, some people felt a noticeable difference, while others are just like "meh". The latter group is wrong, they just don't know it.

At least with the first and third, this is why it's important for everyone to try and get some seat time in, if possible. Everyone has different sensitivities to this stuff, but at the end of the day, the driver has to enjoy the feel of their own car. Mine is where I want it, and since I interact with the steering 100% of the time, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The next person? Maybe the opposite, but at least we have the options available.

Still contemplating whether it's worth it to dish out the extra $ for the '13 ECU as opposed to the '11 ECU.
I doubt the differential felt from 08-13 is significant compared to 08-11 anyway...

So nobody knows if the 12 or 13-14 steering computer is better? Someone said the 13-14 made the steering lighter?? I can't see this being possible after reading the turn in is more precise...idk.

Put the 89650-53042 ECU in the car tonight. Definitely better for the wife - she has always complained about how heavy the F's steering is. It also seems to have more boost at low speed. After putting 255's on the front, it was a real chore to move the wheel in parking lot situations. It feels much lighter now, but has not lost its feel once beyond parking lot speeds.

Very happy with the purchase.

Nice!

My wife, btw who is 95 pounds said she hates driving my 2012 IS-F because the steering is too heavy. Coming from a 335i which had a real heavy planted steering, I missed it a lot when I switched to my IS350 which felt light and almost loose feeling...kinda like an ES350 or something.

That was the first thing that I noticed when I hopped in and test drove my IS-F, the heavy "German" steering feel. It was a very pleasant surprise... It's strange they made steering effort lighter in 2013+...good info to know...

This is very good to know, especially coming from you, Lance. I have mine still in packaging and waiting to find a good time to have it installed and calibrated.

If your going to upgrade you might as well go for the better of the two 89650-53042. I had the 41 on my is350 as well as my ISF and upgraded my is350 to the 42 model and it pulls much less and is more responsive on these distroyed New York roads.

Am I the only one who prefers really heavy steering?

From my brief time driving a 2012, I only noticed minimal difference in sport mode. There was a substantial difference in normal from my car. That said, I would really like to try it on track. Honestly with the stock 2009 unit, I hardly feel any difference in steering between normal and sport modes.

Also FWIW, the LCA bushings did make a noticeable improvement in feel to me.

Redspencer is right with the figs bushings, I can't load to YouTube yet but if your on Instagram (I'm justind2772) and have 2 videos from one run with my little sister, we got it up to 50mph on the initial run and slowed to -10 within feet then sweep around the first set of cones and barrels on a different run (without a ebrake or clutch I was nearly mimicking proam driver chris Johnson's driving in the tech course, ended up getting sponsored by evergreen speedway too! Free admission!) but back to the point, the front end really needs all the figs bushings imo and I need to stiffen the front bar more
