Question Painting JoeZ Intake

Hi Guys,

couldn't find anything on the search on this topic and can't pm JoeZ cause his inbox is full.

So I ordered a JoeZ intake and instead of getting the color I ordered (Black) I received Blue.

Since I live half way across the world I can't really return it so I am thinking of just painting it.

What would be your recommendations? Should I just sand the intake down and paint over it?

Or is the original paint some sort of special heat resistant paint?

yeah if that's the case go nuts!! I would go w the black no gloss look so it looks oem like some header paint or so , so it withstands the heat on the engine bay

If you have access to some Plastidip use it! It's safe to use and it gives a nice matte black look. Plus you can always peel it off and redo it if needed.

I ordered black and also got blue. The label/sticker on the box says black as well. Although I'm local, I'm tool lazy to drive down to carson toyota (45mn-1 hr) so I decided to just keep it.

Thanks for the advice.

I'd be hesitant to plastic dip the inside of the intake. Maybe I can just spray from the outside, but anyway we don't have plastic dip here.

I'll probably try and just sand the original paint off and paint Matt black.

If you want a matte black look anyway, I would consider just sanding it down and spraying it with a high temp black paint. It is the stuff you can find to paint things like charcoal grills or brake calipers, and it holds up pretty well. Definitely don't paint the inside at all...mask the openings well...

^ Sounds like the simplest way to do it.

Thanks I'll post pics once I've finished.

You must have received mine, I ordered Blue and got Black, packing slip even said Blue. I ended up returning it and getting the correct color.

Exclamation

Hello Everyone,

Fixed my PM box..

Seems like on our last Packing & Shipping batch to Carson Toyota / Lexus Parts, my distribution company made an error on the labels for the ISF Black & Blue Intakes.

We do sincerely apologize on their behalf for the errors that have occurred..

If any of you are still dissatisfied for not receiving the right color, please do let me know.

Defratos, yes a simple few coats of hight temp matte bbq paint will work perfect.
I do recognize that you are half way around the Globe, so if there is anything else you need please don't hesitate to ask.

For the record, ALL of our colored intakes are Anodized.

Also, we have double checked all remaining stock to make sure all the inventory labels match what is inside the boxes.

Thank You
Joe Z

^ haha I had the same problem, I ordered blue and got black instead. No biggie, I just changed the theme of the engine bay and the black blends in nicely giving the car a stock look with the exception of the JoeZ sticker
