Time for new brake pads... stock or aftermarket?

I just put in some Project Mu Type NS pads and couldn't be happier. Under normal driving conditions and some spirited driving with hard braking it performs and feels like the factory Brembo pads. Except there is ALOT less dust (about 80% less) and even when there is dust, it's easy to clean off.
Also with the stock pads I would hear a slight grinding noise at low speeds whilst in my apartment carpark which I presume is the aggressiveness of pads biting into rotors. The Project Mu's have 0 grinding noises and after some running in there is about 90% less brake squeal compared to OEM's.
Highly recommend these pads.

I also just installed the Project Mu NS400 pads with stoptech rotors. like mentioned above 80-90% less dust, initial bite and fade feels like OEM Brembo's. no low speed noise at all.
love this setup.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you have any specs or data to show the comparison? If you do please PM me or direct me to any links so I can compare the two before I decide.

RE-11 are great tires for all skill levels, like you mentioned, they give a lot of audible feedback which can be helpful for newer drivers. I have found them to tolerate heat pretty well too so I dont think you will have to worry about managing tire temps until you really start picking up speed.
For pads I would recommend going with Stoptech street performance pads for your intended use. They offer at least the same torque levels as the OEM pads BUT they have a higher maximum operating temperature and are much less expensive than the OEM pads.

I dont believe anyone has directly compared the two on a brake dyno or anything like that so I cant provide graphs, just subjective feedback from myself and other happy customers.
Most OEM brake pads will start to fade around 600-800 degrees F. Stoptech claims their street performance pads wont fade until roughly 1,300 degrees F. I have put a lot of street miles and even a few track sessions (just to see how they would hold up) on my Stoptech Street performance pads and am pleased with the results. They do have a softer initial bite but when you apply more pedal pressure they do produce plenty of torque for a street car on street tires.
Others have mentioned Project Mu NS / NS400 which are arguably the best street pads especially for people who want a performance street pad but are concerned with dust. However, they are a little more expensive and the MOT is a little low for heavy track use ( HC+800 or Club Racer would be more appropriate). Ultimately the Stoptech street pads are the best value or "bang for the buck" street pads I have come across if you are not as concerned with dust and want to take your car to a track day a few times per year.
