Exclamation Calling all gearheads!! Quick question (UPDATE: all good now)

My car is suddenly struggling to turnover and start. It hasn't not started yet, but it really struggles in the morning and then somewhat in the afternoon when I leave work. It first happened Saturday afternoon out of the blue. The battery is only 2 years old, and there are zero issues after the car starts. It's not sluggish or anything, and there are no dips in power when idling, etc. She just seems to struggle starting up after being off for several hours.

Just to test it, I started the car up yesterday right after I got home and shut the car off. It started with no problem, so I'm not sure it's the starter. It seems too soon to be the battery, right?

Any advice/help would be much appreciated.

It definitely sounds like a battery problem even though it is early for the battery to have died. Go to a local Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them test your battery for free. It's way more likely to be a bad cell in the battery than a bad starter.

I actually have the same problem. It lags when I start the car but there are no adverse effects to performance when the car is on.

I would say it happens 7/10 times, occasionally it starts as normal. I have been facing this issue for the past month or so and have tested my battery, It's at 70 percent, so I know it's not the battery.

I will take a vid and post it to see if the op is facing the same issue. I know another member (defratos) is facing the same issue and he's got a 2013.

If anyone has any info regarding this please chime in.

Not sure if you guys let the car sit for several (4-5) days between starts - but I do, and ran into this same problem with my previous car. The solution for me was a battery tender - it keeps the battery fully charged when it's parked in my garage, Again, my issue stemmed from me driving so infrequently, battery would never get the opportunity to fully charge while driving.

I bought the battery at Advanced, so I'll run by there this afternoon on my way home. Of course, the car has to start first. Any idea on battery warranty/guarantee?

Mine hasn't "occassionally" started as normal. So far I'm 5 for 5 on lagging start-ups.

I think the battery warranty is specific to the certain one/brand you bought.

Quick update. Went to Advanced. Battery tested "bad". Bought 17 months ago, and battery had 36-month warranty. Free battery switched out and installed. Thanks for the help VBB. Appreciate it!

Glad it worked out for you, and for free no less. That's the best kind of fix.
