Hey guys,

I've been looking into purchasing an IS-F for the past couple months. After doing some research it looks like they may be discontinuing the IS-F but there is no 100% confirmation on this. Below is the one I have been keeping my eye on but I definitely am in no rush to buy one.

Coming from an S2000 which I sold a while back, I definitely will miss the traditional manual transmission, but as cars become more advanced a lot of manufacturers have favoring the semi-auto tranny which is fine by me. I will be looking to test drive an F in the next couple weeks, so I'm hoping the substantial power difference over the S will make up for the Go Kart feeling.

Do you guys suggest I hold off until 2015 for an IS-F? I do not want the standard IS. I've always been fond of F since it's release and I haven't even bothered looking at the 2014 F sport versions either. I keep on hearing there may be a 2 door IS-F for 2015 but wanted to hear from you guys.

Currently we have a CT and RX in the stable, so this will be our third Lexus. I'm definitely looking forward to be an active member on this forum after my purchase.

you will have to wait minimum a year before any new F models hopefully come out.
there is plenty of F-sport out right now but that is essentially just suspension and trim.
My advice is get a low mileage 2008 is-f and you can upgrade it as much as you want..and when
new IS-F or RC-F comes out in a year or two trade up.

I was just watching the Gt channels review on the new2014 is f sport and they said for customer who needed more a new isf will be appearing 2015ish

something is definitely coming.. but until then enjoy the only F out there thats under $350,000

step1 - buy 2 white envelopes.
step 2- label them. one is for current mods on current generation is-f, other is for downpayment on next generation
IS-F or RC-F or GS-F, or next supra whichever is faster
step 3- fill envelopes with money.
step 4- enjoy

I definitely think buying an 08-09 like lexsane was saying is the right way to go. That way you can have fun now and then when the next hot ride comes out you can trade up. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?

^^^ if your going to buy a used F an 08-09 is not the way to go. 2011 would be the right way to go as the upgrades from the factory are night and day

there are somethings on the 2011+ that even aftermarket parts on a 2008 wont be able to cure

i have a 2009 and a 2011
i find myself driving the 2011 more even though the 2009 is modded alot more

I wouldn't say it's night and day unless you're tracking the car. The only major changes they made were the headlights (personally I like my adaptive headlights better), piano black inside finish (09+), wheels, LSD, different gauges, less harsh suspension, alcantara option. Seems like a lot of changes but certainly not night and day. IMO it would be night and day if they added power/tq to the later models and decreased the weight. If the OP doesn't mind spending more for a newer model, different story.

The steering ecu was upgraded and the sits are stiffer as well on the 2011s. The steering wheel is also thicker. You also get hd based nav system with bluetooth and usb integration besides the line aux input. From what I've read, what really matters is how improved the overall car feels even in regular day to day driving.

get a 2013 ISF...its the best one with all the stuff. if you like the new isf/rcf then trade but if it looks ugly or something that u don't like about it u keep your current isf. still a win win.

Personally, if you don't need another car right away, I would hold off. Some say get an '11 over an 08-10 due to the slight upgrades from factory. I'm currently in an 08 and having test driven an '11, the drive is slightly less jarring. But if you are thinking of keeping it long term- I'd get the 2012 or 2013, although I think 2013 might have been a special order only. That way you'll have the most up to date version of the F, which will last for a few years since I've heard the IS F will be on hiatus until said 2015.

Most importantly, see if you really need one right now or ask yourself if you can wait longer until Lexus produces the new F.

Before we can tell the OP get this / get that.....he needs to tell us his budget. Obviously we would all suggest 2012/2013 models with no budget in mind. 08's are the cheapest and the best bargain, depends what he's willing to pay for. The price disparity between 08 and newer models is pretty significant.
