I noticed that SEIBON released vented hood recently. TSII- style. Cost: under $800.
Did anyone get it installed yet. I can't find any pictures posted on an actual car.

I am definitely considering it. I think it would look awesome painted leaving the vents
stand out in carbon fiber. What do you guys think?

Anyone in process of getting it?

Not a good idea for a daily driver with 8 massive holes in your hood, but could look good as you suggested. Buy one and show us what it looks like.

why is it so cheap?

$800 isn't that cheap for a hood compared to other manufacturers charging around $500 for a hood.

It will definitely be lighter than stock but the coat obviously wears out fast (turns **** yellow after a few years) and the fitment isn't perfect.

These may or may not come with trays on the bottom to catch water for rain.

Another issue with CF is that since we have hood dampers, your hood will fly up and be a little harder to close since the hood is so much lighter.

Seibon is not a cheap quality hood for its mass market...as opposed to a TRD ISF Hood that is the same price as a Toyota Matrix.

If the product is as good as it is in the pictures and also fitment, im sure others will follow suit. Now if it sucks... well... Thanks to whomever it is for being the guinea pig, we now know to avoid getting the hood LOL

Seibon isn't cheap in quality being that the specialize in carbon fiber products they have cheaper costs than other brands like i-code or TRD. With that said our hoods are aluminum and going with CF the weight difference would be negligible in my opinion. So really it boils down to aesthetics. I had a Seibon hood on my Subaru and it withstood the sun in Arizona for a couple years just fine. I hear some people have yellowing issues since they use polyester gelcoat so many just sand it down when it yellows and go over it with a clear (if it happens).

If i wanted to do carbon, I'd just go carbon wrap, then put the 3M 8518 high gloss laminate on top. BAM...Carbon fiber looking hood. No weight savings...oh well. I need to lose probably 30lbs, remove spare tire, good to go.

I vinyl wrap cars in my off time and I have done this for a few clients it looks cool but when you get up close it looks really tacky. I forget what brand but they do make CF vinyl that is laminated a bit thicker to give it a more realistic and dimensional appearance.

I have the original SEIBON Hood without vents. Weight savings are very slight, but that saves the hood from "flying up" when opened. I also had the vented version on my subaru and it had trays that covered the vents from the bottom during rainy days.

I would be interestd but need to see it on a car first. I think it would look good with the right paint, exposed carbon combination
