Default Wald trunk lip came in today

Its a beautiful piece of work.. but some little bumps, dents, and smudges are questioning the 1k price tag... I have attached some pictures.. It was a rainy day today and was just trying to get an idea of how it will look. Plan on taking it to a paint shop this week and have them paint it to match the SGM.

EDIT: I should have been a little more clear. Originally I had planed to leave it CF and NOT paint it. Due to all of the imperfections I have decided to paint it.

I question the condition too. I'm a little disappointed, actually.

Interesting. It is a fabulous piece indeed. If you were going to paint over the CF, why didn't you get the FRP version instead? I had the same intent with getting CF and blending it in with the body of my car, but I couldn't justify not showing off the beautiful weave it has. In any case, do enjoy the WALD rear. It definitely adds a new look to the rear.

I was going to leave it showing the beautiful CF.. I can take more pic but there are smudges, cuts, iperfections in a lot of areas..I'm very disappointed. Painting will help on all the smudges and small cuts I think.. Then I can leave the toms diffuser showing all CF once it arrives

Ah, I see. I thought you had decided to have it painted prior to purchasing the CF version. I thought the smudges and minor scratches could not be buffed out and re-clearcoated. It is a shame, however. I thought it would've looked pretty sick with the WALD trunk and Toms diffuser both in CF.

i also was dissapointed when i ordered the wald rear diffuser. there were many spots where the carbon fiber weave was unthreading and wald just clear coated over it..very poor quality..the diffuser reminded me of a cheap bodykit from the 90s. my wald cf rep trunk spoiler looks better than the real thing.....

You could always paint the back side and leave the top side in carbon fiber. That's what I did with my Ventross trunk. LOVE the look

Wow the weave pattern around the emblem is pretty wacky considering the price! I would have to agree with the others, it would have been a cheaper route to buy a replica and paint/mold it rather than paint the CF. You could even raise the side panels to make it flush with the spoiler for well under the price you are paying. However the Wald piece still looks great and you're one of a few people around who actually have the real thing. Congrats!

Damn glad that I bought the FRP Wald for less than half that price tag.

Isn't the replica only $200? A steal for the fitment and paint matching
