Default First time track event - Fontana, Autoclub Speedway

Just checking if anyone in Southern CA have been to this specific event:
http://www.speedventures.com/events/...il.aspx?id=416

Looks like the company hosts at Fontana every 2-3 months, so I was thinking of signing up for Feb 23 -24.

Since the dragway at Autoclub Speedway was shutdown, this may be the only one left without driving 2 hours to Bakersfield. I've always wanted to try a road course and was wondering if anyone here has gone to this specific one and what to expect for beginners.

Thanks for anyones input

This is very fast track u can do 160mph + with the F here, there was an event for socal ISF members a few year back. There are some of us here been to Fontana speedway. The Willow Springs track is a bit more technical auto cross. U going to have a blast !

Yes, this track is very fast. Target time is 2:00 flat, which is challenging unless you have upgraded suspension and are running sticky tires. Turn one will grow hair on your chest. Very fun track to put your F to the test against some other high horsepower cars.

Tell us how it goes. At those speeds I am pretty sure you will have some needs afterwards.

This course can be fun. If you get scared on the ROVAL just stay low on the track. Careful when you work the in field portion because if for some reason you should lose it you can hit reinforced walls in this place. Even if youve never been on a track before go ahead and sign up for the blue beginner group otherwise youll spend more than half your day yawning in the classroom and more than likely have less track time than any of the other groups. This place is expensive to drive at compared to other Socal tracks so get your money's worth.

Thanks for everyone's input. I already signed up for Saturday, Feb 23, "beginners" course. Maybe I'll see some members from this board there...

I've played at Fontana twice now and is a lot of fun. You'll especially enjoy the front stretch into turns 1 and 2 that's where you can really get some speed. I believe my top run was a 2:11. I'd go but thinking I may need new front tires before my next track day, we'll see.

fontana and Speed vuntures are good fun, Ive done 10 to12 track days with them, but never in the ISF. I must admit that I am a bit nervous for the first track day in this car, they seem a bit squirly.

2:11 is a good time in the F. My best is 2:10. I was running Michelin Pilot Sport All Season with 500 treadwear. Next time need to run a stickier tire I am confident that a pre 2010 ISF can do a 2:00 lap.
