Default Finally in the market for an IS-F!

About a year and a half ago i sold my heavily modded GS4. Since then i have been driving an 07 TL-S and no matter how much i try i just can't get away from these forums. I've been lurking the F forum just about as much as i was in the 2GS forum. I love my Acura, but i miss the Lexus and part of me regrets selling it. From the first time i've seen the ISF on the road i knew it was MY car, there's just nothing like it in my opinion. A Lexus high performance sports car, it's so contradicting and i LOVE it!

Anyways, onto why i started another "I'm looking to get an ISF thread". I had a couple questions that only some seasoned F owners can answer. My budget is $35k, so i know i'm going to be looking for a higher mileage 08 which i am perfectly fine with. I would love to stay under 60,000 miles in that budget. I read Just F me's thread about him having to replace his transmission, is this an isolated incident or are there other reports of this occuring? And my second question is, for anyone in CA with headers how do you plan to get around SMOG? I had headers on my GS and it was a PITA to get smogged. Thankfully my buddy owns a smog shop but i heard rumors that they won't be able to pass cars through anymore.

Thanks for the help, and if you or someone you know is looking to sell their F please let me know! I would love to get back into the community as fast as i can, FWD torque steer is just killing me.

The transmission was an isolated one. I haven't heard any other members with that problem, but I don't think it'll be an issue for the most part. I've been hesitant on headers myself only because I too am in CA, and that smog check is coming up relatively soon for us 2008 F owners.

I'm not sure about $35k, but there are some really nice and low mileage F's for sale for a little higher than that, capping at around $40-43k. Best of luck with finding your F! I know you'll enjoy it when you do.
