The IS-F is simply the best all around car in the class when you factor in power, luxury, reliability, rarity, versatility, gas mileage, cost of maintenance and looks. That's why I went with it.

Well said.

plus it costs less than comparable models. The MB e63 is like 100k. The same features on an M3 costs 10k more. The list goes on and on.

I've owned both, so let me try to clear up some of the crazy misinformation in this thread.

The 3.0TFSI does not require expensive and regular maintenance because it is supercharged. The supercharger does nothing to complicate the routine maintenance of the S4. The blower will probably outlive the rest of the car.

Audi reliability is better than it has been in the past, but still likely to be much worse than a Lexus. There were a number of early recalls on the B8 S4, and the '13 cars are having problems with the new electric power steering system. I personally wound up getting rid of mine because it had a defective DSG transmission with less than 10k on the clock. That said, S4 reliability will be as good or better than any other German car in that class, the AMG cars in particular.

If you are looking for performance, the S4 may be a better choice than the RS4/RS5. Even stock for stock, the S4 is not far behind the RS4. I, and a number of other people, feel like Audi really missed the mark with the performance of the new RS4. The S4 has a very broad powerband and lots of torque. Tuned, the S4 becomes legitimately fast. A S4 with just a tune, catback exhaust, and 100oct will pull 11.6-12.0 in the 1/4 at 115-118mph. More go-fast parts are in development, including bigger blowers and better headers. Chip tuning will probably kill your factory warranty, though.

The handling with the sports diff is very good. The tendency is still towards understeer, but the sport diff will let you safely hang the back out when you want. AWD and 255s all around, so tons of grip. I don't which car I'd say handles better. The IS-F is more stiffly sprung and feels racey, but the S4 gives a lot of confidence.

Having said all that, I'm enjoying my IS-F more than the S4. The IS-F sounds glorious (the 3.0TFSI has a very boring exhaust note) and I like not feeling like something is always about to break.

Before getting my 12 F I test drove the m3,c63(p31 package 481 hp),2013 rs5 the s4 or s5 didn't even crossed my mind they are not in the same class the rs5 was beautiful and best interior but 450 hp in that 4000 lbs car felt like 300hp ,m3 was great but too many m3's here in Miami and bit slower than the F I was between the F and c63 ....I went with the F hands down best overall c63 probably next while waiting for the new F but it's worthless buying without the p31 package...
