I know it does look very similar to the mk4 torsen diff, I wouldn't imagine them being too far off other than gear ratios... I want a diff so bad for my ISF. It's NOT a fun car with out and I've been test driving ALL sorts of other cars because I hate this car so much with out a diff, when I want to have fun you cant the ediff is the biggest piece of **** in the world for hooligan stuff. After installing a mk4 auto TT diff in my 93 aristo the car went from ZERO to HERO in a matter of minutes. But I'm not willing to drop 5-8 k on a diff. 1000 + my labour for install on my aristo is acceptable. IMO i'd rather just dump another 8k into a car that was little more fun.

My 2 biggest gripes with the ISF is no manual 6 spd (just put the fing getrag form the mk4 supra in) and no diff!

I've looked at upgrading to a 2010 from a 08 but I couldn't justify like 20 grand more in cost for the same car. For no better condition other than maybe less miles.

With the 10+ LSD I was doing some hilarious *** wicked doughnuts in the snow the other day.

Best thing I have ever done for a car.

Many of the auto equipped TT MkIVs came with open diffs. We had a big discussion about it on the MkIV email list about 14 years ago or so.

No, the Supra diff won't bolt in without some mods. I put both cars up on stands and ran a tape measure from one to the other and found out the MkIV unit would not work as a straight swap. Besides, the axle mounts are quite different.

Most performance mods need a watch and timed course to demonstrate actual improvement. Few deliver the advertised claims. Many are actually worse than stock. The best performance mods are made to the driver.

Emotional arguments - They're not just for chicks anymore.

This must be limited to IS-F models only as I was under the impression that IS250/IS350 models used a smaller diff carrier design similar to the one found on the older MKIII Supra.
The IS250 uses the same size internals as the A70 Supra, which is similar in size to the SC/GS/MKIV small differential. Toyota seems to have changed some of their measuring techniques over the years though, because while the IS300/250 differential is identical to the A70, Toyota referred to the A70 as a 200mm differential, while now referring to the same differential as a 205mm unit. Likewise for the early SC/GS/A80 N/A and TT A/T differential, it was originally referred to as 200mm, but later models (such as the early SC430) referred to it as 205mm. There are differences between these two seemingly same-sized differentials though, such as bearing diameters.

The IS350 uses the same size internals as the IS F (208mm), though nobody has confirmed whether or not the ring gear is interchangeable (none of the part numbers cross over). The olders cars either used a smaller 205mm differential design, or a larger 220mm differential (in the case of the MKIV TT 6-speed). I highly doubt either would be a direct bolt in to an IS F.

I recall some of this discussion from years ago, and as far as I understand (I just looked at the NCF books and parts catalogs) the Torsen was made optional on A/T TT models in 1997 when the T2 replaced the T1 in the "200mm" A-code equipped models (The 220mm B-code 6-speed models kept using the T1).

Random side note, not that there are going to be many lying around for a long time to come, but the 2013 LS F-Sport uses the same Torsen as the 2010+ IS F.

You could buy them there, but you will probably pay around 5 grand.

Look on http://car-part.com/ for "carrier".
