This is so awesome. Good work. Any issues with the electronics interfering with the mechanical LSD? Do you have to keep VSC and TRAC off all the time?

Unless you track your car do you notice a difference?

Update: Took the car to the dealership to have the oil changed and the "new" rear diff leak looked at. The rear diff cover is going to need to come off and be resealed. It apparently was not sealed well from the factory and was leaking at the bottom right between cover and case.

For those of you who are putting used differentials in, this might be something you want to do before you put the diff in the car. Also, you might want to buy some axle seals and a new pinion seal and put those in at the same time....do it right and do it once.

No issues at all with the electronics, the differential works faster than the E-LSD can. I do not have to keep the VSC/TRAC off, although I always drive with them off unless it is snowing/raining hard or I have my child/wife in the car.

I have not tried driving with using the "Pedal Dance" Method (as its referred to on the forums), that will turn off the E-LSD completely. Mind you that I am still on my summer Bridgestones in 40 degree weather..so its pretty fun so far

You bet you do, especially in spirited daily driving.

The car is more predictable and more controllable. Gone is the inside wheel peeling and then all of the sudden having the car turn around on you. It gradually gets sideways and you can control it easily.

Do it, its fun! Next thing I might do is purchase one of your intake tubes and then next spring the car is getting 245 front and 255 rear tires on it to even it out. I'm done with extensively modifying cars....

This is pretty cool, how do I get a 10+ diff?
"Compthis" is the only other member that I know that has done this mod. He gave me a line to a brand new 2010 IS-F differential that was in a junkyard in Niagra Falls, NY. Check http://car-part.com/ and look for "Carrier" (I was looking for "differential" and not finding anything). You can also purchase a unit for ~5,000 from the dealer....

^^^ ME TOO ME TOO, ha jk. What fluid did you use in the lsd carrier? cant be the same as what goes in the e-lsd. What is recommended in the 2011 user manual for rear diff fluid. any 2010-12'ers chime in out there.

Great writeup. I hope you don't take this offensively, but is all that rusting underneath the car, normal?

Any Synthetic 75w90 LSD GL-5 Gear oil ... Approx 1.45 qts...

Will work perfectly fine with the Torsen LSD unit.

If it were a clutch driven LSD, I would then recommend different (more expensive) stuff.

Very normal for East Coast driven cars.... (and other cold wintery climates)

Salt / Sand for the winter roads does a nice number to the undercarriage of just about any car in those regions..

Yup for Chicago land it is...nothing but salt all winter..it still rusts even if you try to wash it off.
Its just surface rust..its not hurting anything.
