Jump 200-300 RPM's when coming to a stop in Auto?
Hello everybody, this is my first post but i have read these forums a lot and they have been quite helpful in my purchase of a new 2012 ISF. I have had the car for about a month now, and as expected, its a blast! I do have an issue that i was hoping to get a response from fellow ISF owners. I have test driven '10 and '11 ISF's, so i knew what to expect as far and how the car drives, but something on this new 2012 ISF is bothering me. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but the other 2 ISF's that I've test driven seemed to be incredibly smooth while coming to rolling stop. But that isn't the case with my new 2012.
When coming to a rolling stop, my RPM's will jump about 200-300 pretty much everytime, and if your not fully planted in your seat you body will be pushed slightly forward when this happens, which is quite annoying and unexpected for a $65,000 Lexus. The same thing happens but even worse when the car is in Manual mode, as the jump in RPM's (as well as the foward body sway) is even more exaggerated. I switched the display to show when the gears are shifting, and this happens when the car is slowing to a stop and it switches down from 3rd to 1st. In fact I've been watching this for a while and the car never goes from 3rd to 2nd to 1st, instead always skipping 2nd. It's at this moment the car jumps 200-300 RPM's so i know it's related, but my question is if this is normal. I've been searching the forums and cannot find any threads on this, so either i am one of a few with this problem, or this happens to every ISF and it is no issue. I wish i could go back and test drive the ISF's i did before but they are sold now, so i have nothing to compare it too besides my memories. Could anyone help out please in commenting whether or not this is an issue?

The only suggestion I can offer is to reset the ecu and see if this helps adapt your transmission. Pulling the EFI and ETCS fuse will perform the reset and not mess with your seat , radio or other settings. If no improvement is seen, take her in....

When you guys are in Auto mode, do you notice a jump in about 200-300 RPM's when this downshift occurs, when you are slowing to a stop that is? It usually jumps from about 700-800 RPM's to about 1,000 when this Auto shift happens from 3rd to 1st.

I only drive in Manual but coming to a stop when the car shifts on it's own into 1st it's lurchy (I have an 08). I have actually developed a technique to slow the car to a stop and time the lurch while braking so that it's not really noticeable. I guess I have just adapted to it because it's second nature now.
But yes, downshifting into 1st for me is lurchy/lumpy/not as smooth as in other cars I've driven.
