Just bought 08 CPO - brakes squeaking.
So here's the story...
I purchased a 2008 CPO IS-F last Saturday, and the past couple of days my brakes have been squeaking like crazy. This upsets me because I thought part of the CPO process was that all areas of the car had to be brought up to par. Clearly the brakes were not since they're squeaking.
What do you guys think I should do about this? Should I take the car to the local Lexus dealer and complain about this? (I say local because the dealer I bought it from is 2 hours away).

First, take a deep breath. It's natural to get frustrated when the car you JUST bought already appears to have problems, but this is not a huge deal. First, the brakes do squeak a little bit on this car sometimes, especially when cold. I don't know if it is because of their sheer size or what, but a little squeaking is not a major problem. Secondly, there's a TSB out on this if your brakes are excessively squealing, which if your dealer is cool, should result in a replacing of your pads and maybe even rotors too all without any out of pocket from your end.
Without hearing it for sure, it's hard to say if you're within normal limits, or eligible for the TSB, but if you search on here there are several people who have had their pads and rotors replaced.
The last option could just be that your pads are worn down, at which point yeah, I'd be a little irritated that they sold me a car that needed new brakes right away (though that's something you shoulda picked up on during the test drive).
Good luck and welcome to the IS-F!

+1. ive had bbk on all my cars ive owned besides my beater, and they squeak or squeal one way or another..some are more audible than others. it doesn't help that with the "automatic tranny" that keeps moving the car foward when you are braking.
obviously the ISF does hence having a TSB for it.
ive heard worse on ferraris, porsches, gtr, etc. you have to compromise somewhere.

Thanks for the responses.
It's not like a once in a while squeal, because I did have that on my TL-S and it didn't bother me. Since Friday, they have been squealing every time I put my foot on the brake. It's good to hear that it is somewhat common, but it's still going to bug the hell out of me when I'm in the car.
vbb - When you say "especially when cold," do you mean when the car is cold or when it is cold outside? Because this all started on Friday and that's when the temp here started to get fairly low. And I took the car on 2 test drives and did not hear it at all. The dealer gave me the service records and as of 9/7 the brakes were at 7mm (not quite sure if that is good or bad).
Thanks for letting me know about the TSB, I will definitely look into this. With my luck, I'll take it to the dealer and it won't make a sound.
