Tell Your Speeding Ticket Story
I bought the F in January and got a no point ticket for doing 85 in a 55.
I received the second today. I was on way at noon running to get a few things. The road was open, I kicked it, and a police car appeared on my tail. After pulling over, the officer begins the conversation by stating, "So, this is the F." I knew that when he followed with a series of questions about the car that this too would be a no pointer.
He went on to tell me that my Escort would be of no value on this stretch of road and explained they are using V-Spec.
We finished the encounter with him telling me the car looks great and to use the cruise control in this region. I was going 80 in a 55--he wrote me up for a 60 in a 55.

About a year ago I was doing my daily commute on the I-680 in my RX350 and as any usual morning I was in lane all the way in the left following the the flow of traffic at about 70 MPH. So halfway to school I get pulled over and the cop asked me for my license, registration, and insurance. Then I got whole lecture about how young kids can get killed while speeding and I was ignorant to do so. So basically I was doing 70 in a 65 and I got written up for doing 70 in a 65...

Probably best for the money but definitely not the best. The guys on the GTR forum swear by the V1. Im about to pick one up. V-Spec isn't even radar or laser. Its similar to a cop starting his watch as you go buy with another cop a mile down the road timing your trip...

Also prior to my v1 I got a ticket like this where they time you, they do not hold up in court so fight it. There is no physical evidence such as a read from radar or lazer. Its based on the officer's calculation which really is hear say.Suck thought because you still have to pay the lawyer, cost me 80 bucks to get out of, didnt have to go to court. A few friends of mine had the same outcome.

I haven't received a speeding ticket in the F. However, I did get a "Failure to Yield" ticket. This type of ticket is normally associated with an accident, but mine was different. I was first in line waiting to turn left onto the interstate and when the light turned green I gunned it and made my left turn onto the entrance ramp. The oncoming traffic hadn't even moved when I was turning. I did not have a green arrow, just a green light. Suddenly a cop comes flying up behind me. Apparently, he was third in line in oncoming traffic. I told him that what I did was no different from making a regular left turn anywhere with oncoming traffic and that I wasn't cutting anyone off or turning in front of anyone. It didn't matter, I was in a Lexus and he was gonna give me that ticket...........and he did.

I have never received a speeding ticket in my F but funny story. There was a cop behind me and I didn't see him at the time but I was messing around with these drunk chicks crossing by purging my nitrous at them which shoots about 10 ft out front, I changed it to shoot up now though, and next I knew there was red white and blue in my mirror. He told me I was creating a distraction to other drivers and basically told me to never do it again. Walked back to his car and left lol. I was confused and didn't really get why he wasted his time, I was at least expecting a warning or something but he probably didn't know what to write haha.

Not even close.
The Beltronics Sti-R Plus is often touted as the best detector money can buy.
The Valentine V1 is routinely touted as the second best detector money can buy, but it's slightly cheaper than the Sti-R and therefore slightly better value.
There are seriously entire internet forums dedicated to thoroughly testing radar detectors and this is the general consensus they've come up with.
The Beltronics sti-R plus will run you about $1300-$1400. This is by far the filet mignon of radar detectors.
The Valentine V1 is $400
The Escort Passport 9500 series is also in the ~$500 range.
Google 'veilguy' (he's considered somewhat of a 'guru' on radar detector internet forums) and check out his video reviews.

The Escort Passport is a very good radar detector, but it's the 'Bose' (audio) of radar detectors.
But if you talk to the true audiophiles, they'll tell you Sennheiser is by far the best commercial brand of headphones one can buy, and the price reflects this fact.
