There are seriously entire internet forums dedicated to thoroughly testing radar detectors and this is the general consensus they've come up with.

The Beltronics sti-R plus will run you about $1300-$1400. This is by far the filet mignon of radar detectors.

The Valentine V1 is $400

The Escort Passport 9500 series is also in the ~$500 range.

Google 'veilguy' (he's considered somewhat of a 'guru' on radar detector internet forums) and check out his video reviews.

^^^ Truth!! I've had at least 20-30 saves from my stir-plus and about a dozen saves by my laser interceptor laser jammers in the near two years of owning my F... No tickets so far, but have had a couple of close calls even with this setup.... Nothing is failproof!!

I've heard really good things about beltronics as well. Particularly the magnum. Apparently beltronics allows you to mail in your radar detector every time they have an upgrade. They change the firmware, antennas, casing etc etc. for much less than buying the new model. The valentine v1 seems to be more popular probably due to the price. The beltronics is literally made down the street from me so maybe I should inquire about "Warehouse pricing"..

I have the K40 jammer/detector, it has saved me more times then I can count.

However, on an open road with nobody in front of you, you cannot beat an instant on radar from a cop hiding off street. This is how I recently got a ticket for doing 79 in a 60, lawyer knocked it off to a cell phone infraction.

Sounds like that cop was just looking for some one to pull over... probably happened over by danville/san ramon I'm assuming?

I do 70-78 mpg on i-880 everyday commuting to and from work. I've had CHP behind me many times but they haven't pulled me over. (knock on wood). They also have reason to pull me over because my front windows are tinted and I dont have a front plate. My dad on the other hand has gotten pulled over on the i-5 doing 84mph... CHP told him if you keep it under 80, they'll usually leave you alone.

Right on the money San Ramon, they are crazy for perfection dude! My uncle lives there and he got a house code violation for my grandpa chilling out on the porch, and I almost got a ticket for passing through a yellow light there, the cop told me even if I'm like five feet away from the cross walk/white line I should stop even if it means slamming on the brakes...

Same here, but is there anything to sort out the V-Spec challenge?

Yes. D=RT. They are clocking us literally by setting up a set distance and know how long it takes to go the distance at the specified speed limit.

This wasn't in the F, but my old civic. I went to a Braves game with my dad, Bobby ***'s very last game before retiring, we stayed at the stadium after to watch the tribute. So I'm driving home its about 12:45am and right before my exit on the highway is a huge hill, I have my passport on and its not detecting anything, and I'm tired as hell so I push the crapy car up to 90, well as soon as I hit the top of the hill boom radar goes off and i slam on the brakes but it was too late, highway patrol was sitting waiting for someone to fly over the top of the hill. Cop was cool and I explained to him where I was and that I was tired and had to be up in 5 hours to go to work. He ended up wiriting me up for doing 85 in a 70mph zone. Ticket wasn't bad but Ga enacted a "Super Speeder" law, where if you are going 15 over the speed limit on a 2 lane highway or road you get extra points and a nice $250 fine added to your ticket. Only other speeding ticket I've had was when I was 18, went to court and the judge lowered it when she saw it was my first, I got even luckier as she liked my last name and reduced the ticket enough that I ended up with no points from that one :-D

I was going 120mph in a school zone and passed a school bus over the double yellow line, but ya dawg I smoked that Integra Type R.

Cop pulled me over and was like "yo is this the new F?" I said hell yeah.

He said youre going to live with your auntie in Bel Air.

Well, wasnt in my ISF but it was in my M3. Was heading to Palm Springs with the GF. Was about midnight, cause we left LA around 9pm on a Friday. I did about 75 MPH the whole way. Then the speed limit jumps up to 70 when the 10 Fwy turns into an open stretch of nothingness so I bumped up to 90 MPH. Right when I settle at 90 MPH, I see red and blue lights flashing. CHP was blacked out behind me and I never knew it!!!! He was cool though, let me off with a warning and a welcome to Palm Springs.... LOL....
