Thanks everyone - glad to be staying on the ISF forum. I just need a great outdoor car cover now to protect it from the winter elements. It won't be driven on the salt covered roads, that is for sure.
I did a similar think back in 2003. I was going to trade in my E36 M3 Lightweight with only about 3600 miles towards a E39 M5. The dealership was about 45 minutes away from my house. I took the lightweight out and drove it light I stole it. OMG what a car, it came alive. The handling and balance are incredible. The sound is great because of no sound insulation. It is about 225 lbs lighter than a regular E36 M3. I pulled over to a pay phone and called the dealership and told them to keep the M5. I still have the original M3 lightweight with 5500 miles and i'm blown away every time I really get to drive it. Some cars you really have to grab by the scuff of the neck and that is when you get what it is all about. Anyway the fighting and the apologies to the wife continue...

I wanted a real truck. I used to have an old Toyota FJ62 Landcriuiser back in the early 90's. I needed something in the mid $20K range that I can use in the winter and be reliable. Wife already has a X5 5.0.

She does complain about the rough ride. I tend to agree, the ride is a little brittle and bouncy especially when tires warm up. I have cold tire pressures set at 36 psi all around as per the manual. My M3 and 1M ride much better. I don't know if I should go town to about 34 psi cold and see what happens. I don't want to be under inflated. I can only imagine what the 08's feel like because they softened the 12's suspension.
