That's not what I was saying and I think you know that

I never said that you were dumb....I said the logic behind it was. Perhaps I did misinterpret what you said because you didn't quote the previous post.

We all buy into marketing...I never pump anything except Chevron because those cars look so happy in those commercials...

Pennzoil claims 25% cleaner, but that's based on what intervals and what conditions? I think if you compare driving in LA, vs driving in Texas, it's all relative.

^^^^I didn't quote the previous post (or this post) because my post led off with:

I'm with you on Chevron, but not because of happy looking cartoon cars, but because it's a top tier gasoline which, yep, marketing has led me to believe is better than other the others.

As far as oil, I did my research and have used Pennzoil products for years. But, any name brand synthetic will probably do the trick.

I was planning on using Mobil 1 in my F. I used it in all my past rides with no issues. I tend to change my oil every 3k miles in my cars and every 5k in my wifes car. I think.as long as its changed regularly and you run a synthetic oil it really doesn't matter what brand you run.

You actually don't even need to run synthetic in the IS F. IS F doesn't come from the factory with synthetic.

I highly doubt everyone knew this.......maybe everyone that's been reading and following along in this thread has, but there could be lurkers...

Also \I made the comment that you don't need to run synthetic because rw95gt said "as long as it's changed regularly AND you run synthetic oil..."

You can change the oil regularly with conventional oil and it will probably be just as clean with all other things equal.

Personal opinion is that all oil is pretty good and it's more about the environment your car is driven in, how often you clean/replace your air filter/oil filter, and how often you do your oil changes. Most oils don't sludge up unless you're driving the car for excessive miles without changing it. Oil probably makes a difference (I say probably because I don't know from my own experience) if you drive the car hard...might be better to go with a higher quality oil that doesn't break down at excessive heat levels such as synthetic oils

My car has a lot of miles on it now...and I drive it pretty hard. It probably gets redlined 6-10 times a day when I drive it if not more.

I was thinking about switching to a 10w-30 Mobil 1...what do you guys think?

I have always been told once you run synthetic you should always run it. True?

Hijacked your thread...sorry I think you should take your engine apart, check it out, take pics, then use Pennzoil Ultra and in like 50k miles, take your engine a part and see if it's true. I mean, there's really no way of knowing unless this is what you do. It's all marketing. Which is better...vitamin water or gatorade?

Oil is oil...some have more additives than others...etc.

That's like comparing apples to oranges - gatorade is more electrolyte based with more sugar - vitamin water focuses on different vitamins depending on what you are looking for that day ;-)

MOBIL 1

Last car used nothing but Mobil 1 for 6 years and 200,000 miles in the hot dusty Arizona desert with oil changes every 6,000 miles with 0 engine problems. Like In-N-Out, that's quality I can taste!
