Apparently from a google search those are tri-clamps and not vband clamps. In some applications they allow for a gasket to be used in the middle.

I just cut mine also. Got it welded. Ill try to get a sound clip. The sound is way better now

i've gone back and forth in my head about doing this. that center reso probably eliminates a lot of the drone and i'm not sure i want to live w/ all that again. my previous car was really loud, way too much drone. of course, the wife HATED it haha BUT if sound clips sound really good...
