We just bought it from a dealer in Kentucky. It's not a factory color that I know of. The first owner had a color change done, and it's not vinyl... wish it was if so it wouldn't have all those nice paint chips on the front bumper / hood.

So ive been caught up in this mess yesterday and today. Previous owner put an aftermarket HID kit rather than replacing the ballast. He is a ****ing cheap *** especially for doing this but now i know why he didnt bother. I wanted to black out the headlights so now i have a reason, using plastidip. I got oem ballasts and bulbs to replace but you have to split open the headlight to do it. The ballasts sit on the bottom so any moisture that gets in settles onto the ballast. Terrible design Toyota, just terrible.

Ive done 5 headlight swaps here in houston and have never seen any water inside nor even corrosion around the headlamp..much less the ballast...Hate to say but looks like it was submerged in heavy water or gasket failed..something seems not right about that much rust and corrosion in that spot..but I could be wrong. It looks like whatever the previous owner did (like not properly installing the ballast gasket) is the root of the problem, not by design..Just my two cents.

I've seen several isx50 and isf with the same issue. Their car was not submerged in water. A bad gasket or poor design makes more sense. Plus in order to replace the ballast, you would either have to bake open the headlight or take apart the ballast wiring. That doesn't say good design imo.
It is a bad design. OR Lexus would just say that the ballasts arent meant to be swapped out, as they dont even offer the ballasts for IS separately. And ANY moisture that gets in there will settle on the bottom, right where the ballasts are mounted.
