Traded-in my ISF
#46
Hey NestyISF, I was at LNM in mid January and they didn't have the red ISF, so most probably the one you saw in November was sold before my visit to the dealer.
To me the decision was clear, if I didn't get the Alpine White interior I was going to get the C63 Coupe (with white interior). I drove my previous ISF for 4 years and the black interior didn't do it for me anymore.

Hey Danny, the differences that I've noticed so far are:
- Firmer but more comfortable ride.
- Thicker steering wheel.
- Missing turning AFS.
- iPod connection now goes through USB.
- XM module is standard now.
I have to work on the exhaust, going back to stock is driving me crazy.

So basically all your are left with is the "Auto Leveling HID" feature. Similiar to the OG IS300's
You got me on the iPod, as I haven't played around with one yet..

Did you trade your car in back to stock??? Or did they take it modified....??

^^^ Yes, that red is something special, but once you open the door... OMG, the alpine white interior looks awesome inside the red shell.
Can someone please clarify this for me? Is AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System) gone in the 2012 ISF? How does an iPod work now? Through the USB connector? I tried it and nothing happend, no iPod charging or activity on the car's display. Thanks.

Joe, I removed the JoeZ intake, OEM iPod adapter and aftermarket wheels. The dealer didn't care about anything on the car, too bad I had no time to remove the Clifford alarm that I had installed some time ago. Also it was bad timing to do 55K miles service last week and brake service a couple of months ago. At least they gave me back a little bit more than $2000 for canceling the extended warranty that I purchased last year.
jkeifer3, keeping the seats clean won't be easy, but I love the interior so I'll be extra careful.
OK, some additional findings about the 2012 compared to my old 2008:

OK, some additional findings about the 2012 compared to my old 2008:
- As said before, there is no need for an iPod adapter as it works through the USB connector. It charges the iPod and works just as it did in my 08.
- Not all iPhones work with the 2012 ISF, the first iPhone is not supported, 3G/3GS/4/4S work OK.
- Bluetooth audio works fine BUT it's just for streaming audio, you can't control the device from the car (so no music selection from the car's screen).
- USB thumbdrives work as expected as long as you keep FAT32 as your file system. Faster response to commands than the iPod, no need to keep any deviced charged. Only drawback compared to the iPod is that there is no database to browse (artist/song/playlist/etc.), only folders.
- I need to get used to the new VDC button position, instead of disabling VDC I keep enabling SNOW mode!
- Very convenient to have SPORT mode now on the steering wheel.
- 2012 ML system sounds better than the 2008 version.
- Navigation now shows exit information when driving on a HWY, before it worked that way only when in guidance mode.

The new ride is looking sweet! Not sure about the new wheels though. Maybe that will grow on me with tIme. I have seen this 2012 in person at the DC auto show and i do like the new dash layout!
