Default Replacing stock ML Sub?

I did search cant get clear answer. I believe my stock ML sub is blown and want to swap out. I my reading its a 8" free air sub 8 ohms?

Can I replace with a similar size unit non oem? What are dimensions of factory unit and power rating etcs?

I see sewell has oem for like 400 seems a bit step in my opinion.

Thanks

A lot of people just disconnect the stock sub and get an aftermarket box.

Yes you are better off going after market as the replacement is a ticking time bomb. It could also be cheaper to go the after market route. Unless you are still under warranty get it replaced for free.

I believe the OEM system is 8 or 12 ohms. You could just drop in an after market sub in the OEM spot but your OEM amp WILL also die on you. With all that's running through that amp you will be in for a world of head aches and set back a pretty penny.

So I should just by another oem one? I don't need a booming system. Lol

I researched this for a while, and chose to go aftermarket. There are speaker repair services around, I found one local in Dallas and they charged 35.00 to fix an ML sub. I chose aftermarket anyway but Im sure you can get it repaired.

I blew mine once and they replaced it under warranty but the ML sub is pretty bad quality compared to my 12in W6V2. It is also starting to go again. So I am thinking about trying to replace it with a different sub.
