Default HID Fog light install

I installed my HID fog lights yesterday and thought I would post a few comments for anyone that plans on doing this in the future.

I used 6K bulbs from xenon depot specifically the Volt Kit. If you want your fogs to match your headlights I would suggest getting a 5K or 4K kit. The 6K bulbs are just a little too blue. I was also fairly disappointed with the light output from the Volt kit. I'm sure this is from the light output patteren differences between HID and Halogen when using an OEM housing (reflector). I believe this is a 35w kit vs. other 55w kits. I heard the 55w kits get hot thus my thought of getting the 35w kit.

I installed these by going in through the fender. Thanks to the search function on this forum I didn’t have to do a lot of guessing when installing. One important note that will save you some time is to reverse the polarity prior to hooking everything up. This might be specific to the volt kit so read your directions but in my case I had to reverse the polarity to get them to work. You could also hook up a volt meter and find out fairly quickly if you need to change the polarity. Also getting the new bulbs to go into the housing can be a pain as they don’t turn easily but just be patient and keep working it…

Total install time is about 2 hours if you really take your time and enjoy a few beers during the process. Tools required small flat head screwdriver, stub nose flat head screw driver, 10mm socket with small extension and needle nose pliers.

I would post up pics but there are hundreds of HID fog light pictures already on here. Hopefully this helps others in the future.

I am getting my 08 ISF this friday.. and planning to put the HID fog light kit on as well.
I had the HID kit installed myself on my 06 IS250....just to verify on the ISF
The HID kit for the Fog light is H11 right?
Is that the same install procedures as the IS250?
If it's different....by any chance you can send me a link for the post?
thank you very much if you can help me out !

I'm considering retrofitting mine with the morimoto mini h1 projectors. Retrofitting is the only way to do an HID set up in a halogen reflector IMO.

I'm not certain, but I have a feeling that if they fit in a isx50 light it will fit in ours. Our fog light may be plug and play since it appears to be centered, where the isx50 is off center and requires some modding. That guy who wrote up the DIY does some amazing stuff BTW.
