Default R35 GTR hood vent/scoop on ISF hood

what do you guys think? Im always envious of M3's, Austin's, and now the new Jag's and their flush hood scoops/vents.

I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a set of carbon fiber R35 hood scoops, however i need to be realistic about the placement as i wouldn't want to place them over key electronic devices.

what are your thoughts on this? 2 simple hood scoops custom cut and molded into our hood, most likely in the same placement as the TRD hood vents.

I love the M's and GTR's hood vents. Have you seen the underside of these vents on those cars? Are they just plain open, route water away with a channel, have a mesh screen, and where are they placed over?

I think vents would look great on the F's fat hood.

I'd have a shop look into making you a custom hood with CF vents, rather than buying those right off the bat. The hood's curve might be off.

The m3's hood looks really nice. I often wondered why there were no vents to cool the engine bay. Something with a screen to prevent leaves and stuff from getting inside would be nice.

thats why man created heat.

I am going to pull the trigger on these after i take a good look at the underside of my hood, and locations within the engine bay.

I'm not too worried about leaves, mostly water. Done right these could be functional in cooling off our engines.

So you're saying a shop will use a heat gun to bend the CF piece? Sounds to me like a lot of trouble for something that seems very tacky and..... I hope you know that your hood will probably need to be repainted during this process.

I recommend taking that GTR pic and a picture of your car, post them in the photoshop forum and ask someone there to transplant before you commit.

i don't think it will be tacky at all if done right. And yes i was planning on molding the carbon fiber piece to suit our hood, i don't want an R35 hood, I want an ISF nose with nostrils.

This is all about looks, right? These vents won't do squat about heat unless you do some serious homework to figure out where they need to be including pointing them in a direction to let heat out, not try to stuff more air in. If it's all about looks, knock yourself out with whatever.

The F does not have a cooling problem, even at the track in 102 degree heat. AMHIK.

^^^ Let me clarify. If you go to the photoshop forum and ask nicely, what you can do is ask someone there to photoshop the nostils from the GT-R onto your IS-F. Just the nostrils, not the whole GTR hood.

A prudent thing to do before spending $$$. Good luck and please do post pictures.

I'm an engineer and could definitely make these pieces functional (especially with my CAI). But to be honest my intent is purely aesthetic
