You have to put in a little more effort to explain your situaton, before folks give their effort into answering you. My $0.02!

^^ Proceed at your own risk. I was merely helping a guy that can't seem to help himself by searching for him.

My opinion is to not cut anything and go out and buy yourself the bypass module. The long term thinking here is that if your $8K Navigation +ML goes out, you can return everything back to factory condition and then see the dealer for warranty work. If you cut it and dealers sees it then....

You can read about he Prestigious Society bypass unit, a lot of use have here:

For someone who asks for help when searching would give a very detailed DIY, I'd say do not cut wires! Other than that, the DIY is very easy to follow and you get the job done in no time. Taking it back to OEM condition for warranty work is as simple as adding a small piece of cable (same color) to connect the 2 ends again, I've done it already and my ML unit was serviced without a problem.

Why'd you have to get your ML unit serviced?
I'm about to do the DIY mod

I agree...

Previous owner of my ISF hacked up the harness to do the nav bypass and lets just say the new harness is costing $3,125 to add to that somehow it messed the amp up as well so yeah tack that on there too. So far the dealership I bought it from is taking care of it all without a due bill since I bought it used so I'm getting a new dash and wire harness and amp. Already got a new cat, o2 sensor, intake manifold, battery, and soon to be headlights which started getting condensation in it =) Gotta love warranties. But yes I would recomment not cutting any wires at all
