Anyone have any solution for water spots? Usually compound and polish does the job but this time these nasty water spots don't want to come off. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I'll try clay bar...I didn't think clay bar was necessary but if I have to Im going to do it. I've heard of vinegar as a good water spot solution but just dont feel safe with vinegar for the paint plus the horrible smell.

vinegar will break down the minerals in the water spot, wont damage your paint just wash your car after so it doesnt smell

This works. Just rinse good afterwards.

+1 on the vinegar bud, itll take it right off then, rinse off the stink and drive around!

Should have clay bar'd it first. If it didn't come out then....

ps the vinegar works great for those spots and tree sap too!

+1!! I never new diluted vinegar worked on stubborn water spots. I'll give it a shot when I wash the car!!

Yesterday my car got a good soaking in the morning with "recycled water" sprinklers at the office, and that crud baked on all day. I took it through the touchless carwash here (Texas Shine sucks btw) and it did nothing for the spots, so I spent 3 hours last night with a spray bottle of 50/50 vinegar and used about 32oz of the stuff. Worked like a charm! Stunk a bit though.

My question is, after wiping off the solution, is it ok to leave it like this with whatever residue is still there, or do I need a separate rinse/wax?

yeah it stinks awful. but glad that it worked out for you!

i would most definitely wash and wax the car again. not saying it will kill your paint, but i wouldn't want to leave those stuff on the car for too long. and i am not surprised if it ate out some of the wax either

I wash my car with the soft water and then dry with towels. No issues at all. i like the vinegar solution, will try it this weekend. i guess this works too Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash System Starter Kit.

Vinegar is a better solution than clay bar. The last time i had this problem, clay bar helped some, but will not take off all the residues unless one spends all day working on it.
