Default 08 IS-F Isn't Starting

Hi all,

Having some car trouble. It's a 2008 Lexus IS-F. When I try to start the car, the car makes a cranking sound and never starts.

I attached a youtube video so you guys can see what's happening. Not sure what to do.

Thanks for the help

I dont know man. We've had members with delayed starts on really hot days but never have seen it not start at all after a couple tries. But you're under warranty so no worries...just have them check it out.

sounds like a new battery is needed. Car batteries like to die around the 3-4 year mark. Being a 2008 ISF sounds like its just about that time. The battery may have 12 volts to power the electronics but not enough amps to crank the acr

Back to basics.
Is there gas?
Can you hear the fuel pump run?
Is the engine turning over? I couldn't hear it in the video.
Do you have starting fluid to squirt into the intake?

Hi OutCaster,
Is the light on the start/stop button green when you press on the brake and try to start your IS F? I couldn't tell from your video nor could I hear the engine turning over due to the chime from the door being open.

hmm that could be a possibility.

Close all doors, turn alarm on and off from the key fob and start the car again. Try a spare key too.

That happened with mine a couple of weeks back. My stock battery wasnt putting out enough cranking amps to turn the engine, but it still had 12V.

Change the battery. I replaced mine with an Interstate Megatron II battery. It has 1000CCA.

I havent had any issues since. Remember if you disconnect the battery to "learn" the passenger, and rear windows.

Before you try and jumpstart it, make sure that the battery is not low on electrolite. Unscrew each cell cap and if low, add distilled water. Usually, if the battery is the problem, you will also lose the presets on your radio when you try and start the vehicle as all of the power is directed to the starter.

Sounds like a classic low charge/bad battery to me.

Another battery symtom problem would be the needles do not perform the full sweep on vehicle start. Does your car also show this?
