Default Tire recommendation

I've been searching the boards and I know about the Continental DW but the problem is that they are on national back order and I'm in need of some serious tires! I want to run the largest size possible on stock rims can anyone recommend a few choices and brands?

I run the Nitto 555s in 245/35 and 275/30 on stock rims. Love em. Good grip and tire life.

I am using Michelin PSS, so far so good as the OEM PS2, but I will go with RE11 in the future

Michelin PSS would be the first choice, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are great tires, I had them and couldn't be happier. I'd stay away from the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO, the sidewall is too soft so they are good for cruising but terrible in performance. I've read tons of reviews of the Continental DW, they all complain about the sidewall, too soft for a performance tire.

^^^^Hi Juan, I've read the reviews on the DW and came away with a different conclusion. I don't believe anyone who complained about the soft sidewalls had the XL versions that the "F" would be fitted with. I notice no soft sidewalls with my set. I still luv 'em. They ride great, are great in the rain and handle superbly. They are a serious performance tire IMHO. Tire Rack users (with over a million miles of use) still have them rated @ number 2 on their list of Max. Performance Summer Tires right behind the PSS. The PS2 is third. Consumers Reports also rated them highly.

^^^ hahahaha, I knew you'd jump right after my post Lou!

Yeah, the DW is a very good overall tire, but after riding on the Hankook EVOs and suffering from this soft sidewall, I decided to read all reviews in full. As you said maybe the reviewers weren't using the XL version that you have. My next set will be the Michelin PSS, I've read so many good things about them that I have to have them.

My friend recommended me the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, as it was recommended to him by his shop. He has em on his F and loves them. He doesnt track the car or take it to drag strips but he does drive the car like it should be..spirited. He has the Pilot Sports and he says he can't tell a difference in em.

I was reading up on these tires and alot of people are getting double the mileage compared to the reg pilot sports and are equally as happy with them

^^^ Yeah, they last longer because they're harder, all-season tires. PS2s are much better, and on top of both is the PSS. For us with warm/hot weather all year long we need summer tires.

I have the Pirelli Pzeroes and tracked it the next day so let me know if you have any specific quesitons. Not a tire guru, but maybe I can provide some info anecdotally.
