Default what the???? (warning lights on - fix included!)

OK, my 2008 ISF has about 17000 miles on it. I'm driving it tonight and suddenly, the "check engine" light comes on and the big red exclamation mark comes on, and it says "check VSC". So what is going on here? Has anybody had this same problem? I guess I'll be taking the car back to the Lexus dealership tomorrow for yet another repair session. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Did you just fill up on gas? If you don't turn the gap cap right and lock it, you can get the Check engine/warning light/ and check VSC. If you just got gas, make sure you check if the gas cap is tightened correctly.

If you just filled up on gas and it was caused by not tightening it the light won't go away immediately it will take about 50 miles I believe to clear itself. It you want to clear it instantly just disconnect the battery. However doing this will erase your memory seats, recent gps data history (not saved locations and addresses), and also you will need to reset your windows by putting each window by holding the switch down on each door until the window goes all the way down and then put them back up with the auto function.

My guess is probably is the gas lid.

Unhappy gas cap

Thanks for the tips. Made sure the cap is good and tight, but still showing all the warnings. I guess its back to Long Lexus for me

Default gas cap

Well, Longo Lexus says its either an exhaust leak or a defective catalytic converter, and, once again, I have an IS250 loaner car. That's not too bad really, as its a pretty nice car.

Same **** happened to me a while back.... They said the battery was bad and changed it... But I don't understand why those three lights would on for a battery?

P0420? Yah I had one of those. But I have headers on and full exhaust so no cats..... I thought it was quite random to all of a sudden have this check engine code. So I cleared it and have been driving it for 700km.... it hasn't came back...

Yup, that's what it was - an exhaust gasket needed to be replaced. I had suspected this for quite a while, as the car had this "motor boat" kind of sound to it. Longo Lexus replaced a gasket and now the car sounds much better.

This is why I have a CPO IS-F. Boyz I tell you, if you are going to purchase an IS-F, please save yourself the stress and buy a CPO. Life is stressful enough as it is, the warranty covers most if not all of this stuff. This is why I am with Lexus, impecable service and reliability.

Well thats a quick fix..!!

Just curious, on the work order did they list which gasket was leaking / replaced??

Also, is your exhuast still OEM..?

Thanks

The work order says they replaced BOTH the left and right side exhaust gaskets, part no. 90917-06078. This was done under warranty at no charge to me, and they gave me a nice loaner. Yes, exhaust is stock. Dont think you can run an aftermarket one in Calif and pass smog, can you? Would an aftermarket exhaust affect my warranty?

nothing aftermarket will void you warranty unless the dealership can prove that the part you installed caused the failure. And even then, the rest of your warranty remains intact except for that specific failure.
