Belt dressings are not for new belts, or any belt you plan to run for awhile. They're a quick fix to get you a couple of days while you wait for the proper part to show up.

cool. Thanks for explaining that. I had a feeling that was far too simple. It is what it is. The car works fine and as far as I dont launch in manual I never hear it. Since my belt and pulley are still new I barely hear it in first gear only.......so far

Hi all, just thought I'd give everyone a quick update, the dealership ended up replacing the tensioner and the belt, the noise disappeared for about 2,000km and now it's slowly starting to come back.

They did warn me though that it would come back at the time.

I guess it's a "feature" that we'll have to live with

P.s. Nov 2013 build with 10,000km

Again, this belt slip noise hasn't proven any performance loss or detriment to the engine, so I'll just save my money and not do this. Not to mention it seems the noise returns even after the replacement.

Yup mine was chirping away at Arizona Motor Sports park this past weekend. Frustrating but .........doesnt seem like there is anything we can do. Still BS on Lexus' part. They should have a fix for this.

They did on the RC F. They put a one-way clutch on the alternator.

Just to add, I noticed this on my IS-F as well right after I got it. Only happens when sport shifting near redline. I'll bring it up with Lexus when I take the car in soon and see what they say. Sounds like it is just a "normal" thing, so not going to worry about it too much.

so is this just a design flaw? Wondering why many have this noise but not all of us. When I watch Youtube videos I hear it all the time when you watch F videos at the track

Default Belt slip noise in manual mode shifting >5.5k rpm?

My screech noise is pretty bad as well (09 with 57k) but Iv learned to somewhat embrace it as people think it's my tires breaking lose. But it seems that everyone who has the "fix" done (new tensioner) has the sound come back correct? Also, does anyone else have a rubber burning smell that (possibly) correlates to the slipping belt?

whats odd is when you look at the belt when replaced the old one looks totally fine. Another member here said the noise stoped when he had his AC compressor replaced. I wonder

Right... I know a few guys have eliminated the noise with either the ac compressor being replaced or the tensioner (lobuxracer posted on this a while back) . also seems (by reading other threads) that the rattle can noise that a lot of us have including myself is coming from the compression. The problem is.. Every time I go to the dealership.... The noise goes away and they look at me like I'm an idiot..

Haha Story of my life. I am convinced I should have been a test driver. I can detect any weird crap with any car in a second. It feels like a curse

So if you worked at a dealership, the curse would go away?

So I guess Im not the only one hearing things. Thought it sounded like a blow off valve on a turbo car when shifting at high RPMS WOT. But most likely the belt.

Im still under warranty so lets see what they say when I bring it in. I have a 2011 w/ 25k

not sure why no dealership has opened a case withe field technical specialist. This problem should have a TSIB for it considering how insanely common it is. Its like the knock from the intake flap when you turn off the car that many ISFs have. No fix and they simply tell you the car is not throwing any codes and is operating normally.
