Sunroof Shattered
How the hell does this happen anyways? I was coming home from work. As soon as I got on the freeway, I hear this loud *** crack. I mean it was LOUD. I pull over immediately. To my horror, I see this big hole in my sunroof. I'm wondering if someone threw something in the air while driving? Whatever it is, must have been heavy. The sunroof glass is pretty thick. The worst part is there are bunch of paint chips on the roof. My baby isn't even 6 months old, and it's been violated

damn, that's horrible. not sure how something so large could impact the top of the car. at first i thought road debris on the freeway. maybe something ricocheted off. i cannot see anyone throwing anything out of their car onto yours. hopefully it'll get fixed soon, maybe through insurance? best of luck!

If this is true and you find it I will buy it for the cost of the repairs. That would be the best story to tell!
Im sorry about your sunroof, MAYBE a bird dropped something? I dont know about where you live but I have seen some birds carry some big objects around my area.

Sorry about the bad luck. Looks like something hit it since there is a hole. I have never had any problem personally, but one of my other cars has a situation where some owners have come out to broken drivers side windows while the cars are parked securely in garages due to misalignment of the power window from the factory. Its a known issue and most people have had good luck getting the dealership to warranty it since it is a documented issue. Have you had any issues with your roof binding up while trying to shut or open. If not, I'm betting the dealer will tell you that something must have hit it and thus not be warranty. If it turns out to be expensive enough that you turn it in to your insurance company, be aware that if you tell them that you think you hit something on the highway it will be filed as a collision claim and could effect your premium. If somebody threw something at you while driving (overpass etc) or it was vandalized it will be a comprehensive claim. You would then pay your comprehensive deductible instead of a generally higher collision deductible, and most insurance companies dont charge for a comprehensive insurance claim. Good luck

So what did you think happened after a couple of days of contemplating? What would you tell your insurance? Never seen this before.....
BTW, does your roof cowl vibrate violently with the sunroof open in the 2011 going 60mph or more like the rest of us pre-2011?
