Default Painting Caliper Question & Answer

Hey guys those who have you painted their calipers, can I just use spray paint and then clearcoat it? Would I get any reaction or anything?

you need to thoroughly clean the caliper first with brake cleaner to take away any grease or residue. afterward, then yes, you can paint and clear. the cleaning step is the most important. i did mine and then used high temp enamel to paint / clear, after 6 yrs they were still like new

If you decide to paint them instead of powder coating, use G2. Their kit comes with brake cleaner, promoter, brush and paint. It can usually be found at AutoZone / Advanced Auto....or http://g2usa.com/

I read somewhere on the forums it's a bad idea to powdercoat the brembo calipers...the seals get messed up due to high temps used for powdercoating.

I also remember reading this. The post / thread specifically sighted brembo strictly advising against powder coating. I think lobuxracer found the information.

Smile Painted Caliper Answer

So I finished painting my caliper just wanted to share. Always loved the looks of the classis brembos. Took the pic with my cellphone so its ok quality, It's a tad bit darker red in person. I am really happy with how it turned out. I think it makes the car stick out more.

Wow! Turned out great! Did you have to disassemble the caliper to paint? Is the decal specific for calipers? Again, looks terrific!
